Owner description: It took Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, one of the most original women on the French Riviera, seven years to build one of the most beautiful sites on the Côte d’Azur. An enlightened art enthusiast who travelled back and forth across France and Europe, Béatrice de Rothschild built up an incomparable and eclectic collection of masterpieces: priceless Sèvres and Vincennes porcelain, works by Fragonard, paintings by the masters (Boucher, Carpaccio, Tiepolo, etc.), Louis XVI furniture, and so on.

Fabulous gardens, loved all the different themes - one minute you feel you're in Spain and the next it's Japan. Some amazing views across the bay.

The house is beautiful - thoroughly enjoyed watching the fountain display from the balcony which also offers a wonderful view of the main part of the garden.

This place is living history! It gives you an indication as to how the very wealthy lived during the"belle époque" period. Whilst a living museum the villa has been kept looking as an old magnificent home. The place is sumptuous with its furnishings and the gardens are theme based from Japanese to French formal. The landscape of the gardens is interesting insomuch as they look like the decks of a ship.Well worth a visit. Also spectacular musical water fountains.

You must go and see this villa. It is so far and beyond any words a person can use to tell you how beautiful the villa and the gardens are. The villa is full of beautiful antiques but the views from the villa inside and outside in the gardens are spectacular. It is not an overwhelming property like some of the huge places you'll visit so it is very manageable to see all of it.
We also had a very tasteful lunch under the umbrellas in the outdoor area at their tea room. Good service, food, and wine.
The story of Beatrice de Rothschild is a fascinating one and to know a little of her life helps you appreciate her gift to the world by willing this villa so that all can visit it.

For 12 euros per adult, you should make a three-hour visit out of it.
While the grounds is not as big as the map portrays, the interesting paths along the gardens leads you into an era where people would spend hours enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
Not as well kept as I had expected, in terms of growing new plantings, or flowers, it was definitely past its prime, or season. The focal point of the garden is a fountain area that once commanded great splendor with its expansive paths and hedges. The cleverly designed walking path, ultimately leads you to the gem of the property, the house.

The house where the family lived, carries in it so many ancient artifacts like clothing, furniture, artwork that belonged to the family. It is a museum in its own right, that proudly displays the precious heirlooms. Visit this location for a piece of history of the way the rich and famous once lived in Nice.

Probably the most beautifully situated place in all of France. Mediterranean on three sides and seaside cliffs (corniches) behind you. Beautiful gardens of all kinds and fountains programmed to classical music. Do not miss. Villa itself is a great place for lunch or tea.
