Owner description: It took Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, one of the most original women on the French Riviera, seven years to build one of the most beautiful sites on the Côte d’Azur. An enlightened art enthusiast who travelled back and forth across France and Europe, Béatrice de Rothschild built up an incomparable and eclectic collection of masterpieces: priceless Sèvres and Vincennes porcelain, works by Fragonard, paintings by the masters (Boucher, Carpaccio, Tiepolo, etc.), Louis XVI furniture, and so on.

A trip to this Villa is a must enjoyed every minute we were there. The setting is sublime
With views over to Villafranche which were fantastic. The Villa itself was very interesting
With an excellent audio commentry. Lunch was most enjoyable in a perfect setting. The
Gardens with the dancing fountains were just breathtaking.

We really enjoyed our walk through this villa. Getting there was pretty easy (bus 81) from Nice near the Port stop. The Villa and the gardens had amazing views of the water and the yachts. Feels like you are in a story. Don't forget to pinch yourself when you are there. The reataurant was pretty good, got a great bottle of red. I would recommend downloading the app for the villa from their website. You can also get the walking audio tour and save your phone battery for the pics.

We could have spent all day here, but sadly had to rush back to the airport. The house is crammed full of beautiful furniture collected over many years. Surprisingly the rooms were light so you could see the detail on it all (presumably they lower the blinds when it's a sunny day). The villa itself has stunning views along the riviera from all sides. My favourite part was a lovely open balcony where you could sit and take in the scenery. Excellent audio tour included in the price. The gardens were fabulous with marked routes round the different areas. We particularly liked the Japanese garden. They have a display of the fountains to music regularly throughout the day, but we missed this due to the timing. Toilet facilities a bit limited, especially if your arrival coincides with a coach party. There is a small car park at the foot of the drive, but more parking through the gate (not immediately visible from the lower car park) The driveway parking necessitates a tight 3 point turn at the top (often blocked by waiting taxis) so if you have a biggish car would definitely recommend parking in the lower car park and walking up the drive. They had a lovely looking restaurant, with lovely views, would revisit and spend longer next time.

Very rich decoration inside, tons of artworks but pretty much mixed up. If you like historic relics, you will be served. Make sure you have enough time to enjoy the heavenly gardens and discover the history of the place.

The villa is beautiful and well-kept, but it really is the views from the rooms and the gardens that make it so fantastic. Spend some time sitting around the gardens in quiet spots to soak in the sea air and the atmosphere and you'll have made your visit worthwhile. Also, the restaurant serves delicious food. It is only 30 minutes by bus from Nice and costs €1,50.
