Owner description: It took Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild, one of the most original women on the French Riviera, seven years to build one of the most beautiful sites on the Côte d’Azur. An enlightened art enthusiast who travelled back and forth across France and Europe, Béatrice de Rothschild built up an incomparable and eclectic collection of masterpieces: priceless Sèvres and Vincennes porcelain, works by Fragonard, paintings by the masters (Boucher, Carpaccio, Tiepolo, etc.), Louis XVI furniture, and so on.

“Beauty in Winter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012 via mobile

Our purchase of Riviera Passes led us to plan our day trip to St. Jean Cap Ferrat to start with a morning visit to the Villa, though our interest always focuses on gardens. Among the first visitors of the day, we delighted in wandering through all the gardens without interference by or to anyone else, enjoying the plants themselves, their arrangements and the vistas they complemented. Luncheon the the tea room was very nice, unhurried and a good value, and the villa tour with self-paced audio guide/commentary (in several languages) completed our visit.

We suggest including this on your own Riviera itinerary at any time of year.

“Stunning gardens in an idyllic setting”

Cap Ferrat is a stunning setting for this fabulous garden which is divided into 7 different gardens, i.e. English Rose garden, Japanese garden etc. Very peaceful and relaxing visit.

“A must see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

On our recent visit to the Cote d'Azur, we spent a lovely morning at the villa. Admission including audio guides so we could go at our own pace. The length of the audio tape is one hour and 15 minutes, but you will need more time (about 2 to 3 hours). The views and gardens are incredible. Wandering through the gardens with the classical music playing was great!

“Do not miss it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012

Wow ! The gardens, the villa, the history around it : everything is fascinating. We arrived just in time to have lunch in the salon de thé et we had nice salads, service was attentive, the view of the garden is appealing. Sitting in the room where you have a view of the garden deserves a few minutes. I would definitely recommand to go. The road to get there is as well wonderful, not to be missed !
