Terrible welcome by staff at the beach....
Terrible place to o, staff is very unwelcoming and makes jokes of the guest, truly a one of a kind experience, never before seen anywhere, where the adult staff pulls faces at guests and laugh out loud. We left this place on our boat as fast as we could!

Book ahead for your lounger and lunch table! This is the place to see and be seen. A lot of Italians come to this beach to get away from their own I suppose, so when we lie down we hear Italian spoken around us. The loungers are very comfortable, but they can be a bit too close together for us. Still, the beach itself is beautiful and calm, and perfect for a chill-off swim. The restaurant serves very good food, but it can be chaotic. We booked well in advance for a table for 2pm because we were told it would be a better time than say 1pm. When we got there, the place was packed and the queue for tables was long. Most people didn't hire the loungers (i.e. not existing customers) but they somehow got tables ahead of us. We were not at all happy when they showed us a table upstairs on the 'terrace'. We saw a few tables left empty throughout our lunch, so why did they reserve them for people who didn't bother to turn up? Or perhaps there was a snobbery element there? Surely we would spend as much money on food and wine as the others? Never mind, we told ourselves. Rather enjoy our lunch and move on. The food was very good. Fresh fish and salad, plus some meat offerings. Service was expectedly slow, with the amount of diners downstairs. We saw a lot of big-spenders wasting champagne and food just because they could afford them. It is typical of the place, and we took that as entertainment. The staff could be more attentive and professional, but in season I give them a discounted rating. Try it if you haven't done so. Oh, try to cycle there (if you can hire a Velo Bleue) or take the bus and walk. Parking is IMPOSSIBLE.

This had to be the worst beach we visted whilst on holiday in the area. The beach itself looks like its made up of building rubble, the right hand side being a public area and the left hand side having the restaurant and sun bed hire. I cant understand why people would want to go and sit on piles of stones and rocks. The was an aweful smell across the whole beach coming from the toilets at the rear of the beach. The restaurant and sun beds were overpriced. We spent about an hour here and left whilst we could still do something else with our day.

It looks as if they're really trying to spiff the place up... and it's working. Although this locale continues to receive mixed reviews, we had a very good experience having dinner there in late June. Excellent sea bass... also ample, tasty Escalaope de Dinde a la Milanaise. Our waiter was wonderful... couldn't be more attentive and helpful. I also really liked the white, diaphanous curtains gracing the upper bar area. It made things look very dreamy, jungle-like, exotic and pleasing. Give it a try... but be sure to choose a well-shaded table... that sun can be intense.

The wife and I visited St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat looking for a nice beach, and we found it with Plage de Passable.

After trying the public beaches and being disappointed by the number of jellyfish, we decided to try Paloma, but they were closed for a private party. As we did not travel with beach gear, we decided to visit Plage de Passable, not for the restaurant, but for the private beach.

We were greeted quickly, and seated in very nice canvas covered beach chairs with umbrellas and small tables. The service was prompt, and the prices were in the range to be expected. We drank the house wine and had a lovely pizza. We spent several hours in the water and found the beach clean, and surprisingly sandy in places. There was a full house and the other guests were friendly and we enjoyed our afternoon well into the evening.

With everyone raving about Paloma, I have to say Plage de Passable was a great way to spend an afternoon on the beach and you should consider it a good alternative.
