“Worth the View From My Window”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

Stayed here for business in Monte Carlo and found this little gem of a hotel just minutes away in Roquebrune Cap-Martin. I grabbed the airport shuttle from Nice and it dropped me literally, half block from the hotel. On my return trip, I took that same bus (catching it across the street) straight back to the airport for 20Euros.

For the price, I cannot complain about Hotel Alexandra. It's not luxurious but it's not a dump either. My room was clean and comfortable with a great shower (a must when you're traveling). The view of the bay was amazing and at night, the traffic noise disappeared so I was able to leave the little balcony door flung wide open and slept to the sound of the gentle surf.

I was there while in business trip to the Monaco Yacht Show. The hotel is cosy and average, especially if your room has a road view. But the location pays off! The beach is 25 m away from the door and for example in September is really empty and calm. The views are there, and it's easy to get anywhere you want (Monaco, Ventimiglia, etc.)

Room Tip: Select a room with sea view. Avoid rooms that overlook the road (it could be hard to sleep)

We stayed at Alexandra hotel for two night. It is in convenient place to explore the Monte Carlo, Merton, to stay in nice hotel with balcony and a wonderful view without pay a terrific price. We was by car and there is a lot to see within short driving distance.
The room was basic but nice. The bathroom was good , big , refurbished and perfectly clean. Free internet. And the best was a balcony with stunning view of the sea, promenade, Menton....
The only think that was missing in the room is a coffee maker. If it was there, we could seat in the evening on the balcony and drink a coffee....
The breakfast was basic (even without boiled eggs).
There was a free, but limited parking next to hotel and paying garage parking.
The staff was very nice and helpful.
I would recommend this hotel.

The best thing of this hotel is the location! Great sea view from the 3rd or 4th floor rooms all of them with balcony and charis outside from where you can enjoy a fantastic view of the gulf from Cap Maritn till Italy!!
For the rest nothing special; it's an old family run hotel in need of a "refesh" , rooms a spaciuos but are quite dated, breakfast simple and basic. Don't expect too much from this hotel.
For what they offer, price is not cheap!! For a double room sea view you must pay 138 Euro/night !!!
The Tripadvisor ranking is abosolutely fear and probably more than that.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotle Alexandre last night having found it by chance. We had a nice room with a stunning view along the coast towards Italy. You would have to go a long way to get such a view.

The Hotle was tired but perfectly good and the staff very friendly. Very good eating, walks, etc nearby.

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view

Oh dear, i don't like leaving negative reviews but this hotel desperately needs renovating.
This is a classic case of having never spent money on the upgrading of the facilities until it gets to the point where a fortune needs to be spent. The owner was very kind and helpful but the hotel itself was not so good. If you like 'old & dated' then this is the place for you but not at the inflated prices.

We are mature and quite experienced travellers in our 50's.

Simpel hotel, which has not changed for quit some years. This is what we liked about it. The staff is very friendly and professional.

One can book a space in their garage which is very small.

The hotel is about 4 km away from the centre of Menton, and is located on the quiet part of the boulevard. Not many cars pass by. This whole area has not seen much modern development as in high rise buildings. If the guest is willing to pay for a seaview, then one will get a stunning view all along the coast towards Italy.

There is a bus stop within 2 minutes walk, which can bring you to the extreme east side of the busy Menton beach.

Our room was plain, but it had everything we needed. Fridge, good closing curtains, and blinds, comfy bed, balcony and small sitting area. Not all rooms are exactly the same. Free Wi-Fi.

We stayed here in June and already it became warm during the day, especially in the morning when the sun hits the balcony. It could be to warm in July and August. It would be real good if the hotel installs sunblinds which can be rolled down, so one can sit on the balcony in the morning.

Do not forget to make the walk around Cap-Martin to Cabbe, 1 hour, there is a train station. Cabbe has a "forgotten" beach with a few small restaurants and snackbars. Get a train time schedule so you can plan ahead. On average there is only 1 train per hour.

We liked the hotel because of its beautiful view, the quiet location and it was very affordable. Would love to come back.

Room Tip: Pay extra and get the sea view. Parking space must be reserved in advance.
