Description: Located on Boulevard Dubouchage in Nice, Restaurant Aphrodite combines a potent mix of vibrant energy, exciting nouvelle cuisine and seriously stylish customers to create what has become one of the most innovative restaurants in town. Popular with a chichi corporate crowd during the day and discerning diners at night, the modern Mediterranean dining room is dressed in burnt orange and cream colours, and is decorated with contemporary artworks, sleek chairs and lemon-hued lighting. The kitchen at Aphrodite is renowned for its bold cuisine, and signature dishes include the fillet of beef roasted with pine needles and served with apple mashed potatoes; the pigeon roasted with cumin and rosemary served with Chantenay carrots; and the fillet of Saint-Pierre roasted with liquorice, pistachio nuts, purple artichokes and lemons.

We have visited many Michelin Star restaurants, this one was a disappointment. The service was only OK and the food concentrated only on presentation and not taste. The appetizer of escargot looked very impressive with the dry ice flowing out of the end of a moss log covered in escargot that were minced and deep fried in a corn ball. The shells were stuffed with garlic butter batter that was baked and neither had any flavor. We wanted this restaurant to be fantastic but it wasn't. The amuse bouche was thin slices of octopus amongst a tomato mayo on a brown colored gelatin. All of these flavors were nondescript. Michelin needs to consider this choice again as it appears to have fallen from grace. The wine selection was good and the main courses were above average but again, we traveled to a Michelin Star restaurant for fantastic not just OK.

This is a pretentious place purporting to break new ground in modern cuisine. Our view based on having eaten there recently is that it serves awful food and charges anything upwards of 40 euros per person.The amuse bouche brought at the start tasted ghastly and was unrecognisable. The main courses include octopus and beef which they grandly claim has been cooked for 14 hours by which time it was nearly black in colour and seemed to have lost all taste.There is no a la carte avaialable- only two other set menus at about 60 and 100 euros ,which could present an extremely risky proposition.

We had dinner on Saturday night at the restaurant,
We were very happy because was the first time for my partner and we were very excited to try the kitchen of this innovative restaurant!
We chose the Revolution menu. The food was very original, well presented and the explanation given for each plate was professional. In conclusion we appreciated the food.
BUT the service was absolutely terrible and not acceptable for a 1 star Michelin restaurant,
We get at the restaurant at 8.45 pm , we finish our menu at 1.10 am,because we give up,
We paid at the counter because we were fed up!

We will not come back to this restaurant!

A unique experience. Aphrodite is a great place for a special occasion that won't soon be forgotten. The Revolution menu will amaze you and the staff is very friendly making this one of the most fun Michlien star restaurants I've been to.

Really treat yourself to the 12 course R-evolution Menu for 99 Euros. Having travelled through New York, London, Barcelona and Paris, this was the most excellent and original dining experience we have had. It is great value for the sheer experience and emotions that the food will generate as well as having Chef David Faure cook at your table. From the opening special cocktail, smouldering with dry ice and a pure vanilla straw, to the virtual oyster, the bread that's not bread, the nitro-dragon pissaldière, the temperatures and textures of mussel ravioli soup and frozen chorizo ice cream, the virtual egg (pièce de résistance) and an incredibly humorous helium finale, this is a dining experience that will surprise and charm you. Chef David Faure is a tour-de-force genius with food and Heston Blumenthal and David should be friends as they both have the same ethos. David needs his own TV Show too... A gastronomical magician... You must book in advance.
