“Hidden Gem of Gastrnomy”

An amazing dining experience with unique flavor profiles and combinations. Fixed tasting menu with three entrees (appetizers), three desserts and then a choice between two plats (entrees). The food is so creative (salad of orange, sardine and black olives) yet wonderfully balanced. For our plat we had a reimagined canard parmentier that was both great tasting and substantial. All for a very reasonable price. The menu changes ever two to three weeks. This seems a pursuit of passion that shows in the food.

“Unique setting, fine food”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

We were staying at the nearby All Seasons hotel and decided to give the Bel Oeil a try. The restaurant decor is unique and contained a dinning area with a couple of couches as the primary seating while our table had metal folding chairs with a linen table cloth. Another room contained art objects for sale. Our patient and friendly waiter it turns out was the co-owner married to the co-owner chef- a nice young couple working hard. The menu was designed to offer a meal in a somewhat unique fashion. For 26 euros each, we were initially served three dishes to share (grilled tomato with goat cheese and bread crumbs, eggplant ratatouille with squid ink and finally chickpea & cream with shrimp). All were tasty with the chickpea dish being my preferred choice. The main course with two offerings followed which included risotto milanese with marscapone and saffron and a duck parmentier (think shepards pie with duck). The duck was excellent while the risotto had good flavor but was not nearly creamy enough for my tastes. To conclude our meal we received three small desserts each which included a tiramisu, plum tart and a pistachio truffle. All were good but the pistachio truffle, rolled in roasted pistachio powder, was an amazing, world class surprise. This was one of those unexpected jewels which makes trying new and different foods so rewarding. I should add the wine offerings by the glass were well chosen and very reasonably priced (4 euros/glass). We really enjoyed our dinning experience here and would hardily recommend it to anyone seeking a little dinning adventure.
