Easily accessed by tram, foot or bus. This area has been totally re-vamped and is now an almost traffic free zone. Sit in one of the bars/restaurents around the square and people watch. You can walk down to the port from here. Check out the new underground museum displaying Vieux Nice (Old Nice) ruins which were discovered when the new tramway was built. There's a great sea-food restaurant on one corner which is practically part of the old town. The other restaurants in the square serve Italian/French type dishes. Great in Summer day or night or on a warm winter day eating out as these restaurants don't have a very large indoor area, but you can still eat there in winter so don't be detered.
