“Loved it!”
Reviewed August 26, 2007

Stayed here for 5 days with my young daughter and felt thoroughly pampered. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was ready when we arrived at 10 am and was clean and extremely comfortable. Like a previous reviewer we had to find our own information on buses and trains but that was not a problem. The buffet breakfast was lovely and room service is also extremely good although the portions are big. We came back feeling thoroughly relaxed and can't wait to go back.

My wife and I spent 10 days at the Palais and had a wonderful time. The staff was always accomodating and treated are every need with a smile and a thank you. The room was always cleaned twice daily, and the breakfast was always delicious. And for those of us who only speak and understand a little French the staff really tries hard to communicate in the most professional way. The hotel itself in spotless and very secure. (Using the key in the elevator can be frustrating-pass it very slowly through the device.) The retaurant is very expensive but absolutely delicious. You are close to everything so food is never an issue, The Casino is not Las Vegas, but they will take you money easily also. The pool is nice just very few chairs and many people stake them out VERY early. The views are spectacular and the sea breeze is wonderful. We will return soon. Thanks to the staff for making our vacation so wonderful. We stayed from July 11th through July 22, 2007. Room 510 City View. Nice and quiet. But next time a sea view will be mandatory.

We have just returned from a week at the Palais de la Mediterranee and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in the best position, being opposite the beaches and near to the old town with all its restaurants. The rooms were cleaned twice daily. As previous reviewers have said, the bus and train stations are 15 mins walk away and we went everywhere on public transport which is extremely cheap and very reliable. 1.30 euro for bus trips of any length, which is really good. Also the airport bus costs 4euros and takes you practically opposite the hotel, so no need for an expensive taxi.

The only drawback of the hotel is the size of the swimming pool and the fact that there aren't many chairs for sitting around and no sun umbrellas. The beach costs 16euros per person for the day, but you are quite jammed in, although very comfortable! However, for a city hotel, we thought it was excellent. We had a 9th floor city view room which was great, especially at night when all the lights were shining. Would definitely recommend.

Overall excellent staff, hotel, and location on the promenade. The parking is 30 euro per day, very difficult to park in the city. Excellent staff and concierge. Extremely friendly too. Located on the best part of the promenade within easy walking distance to the old town, shopping and dining. Very beautiful hotel. Member of the Leading Hotels of the world.

Great location with very crowded rocky beaches across the street. A short walk to the fabulous old town and great shops and bars around the block. Excellent service slightly marred by horrible housekeeping (they barely showed up), and very small pool with only a few seats for a large crowd. Very expensive food but excellent service. Be prepared to pay $20.00 for a drink at the hotel bar. BUT this is a great hotel to stay at with EXCELLENT concierge(s).

This is a WONDERFUL hotel! My husband and I spent 6 nights here during our recent trip to Nice. The hotel was immaculate and made our stay very enjoyable. It was great to look forward to coming back to our comfortable, clean and quiet room every night. The breakfast that they serve is good as well. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Nice. If I return to Nice, I would only stay at this hotel!!!

You will be right in the mix of everything - we walked to both the train station (~15 minutes) and the bus station (~15 minutes). The Nice tourism office is also very close (less than a 5 minute walk) which is great if you need information on trains, busses or want to book tours. The concierge at the hotel was not too helpful with train / bus info, so we went to the tourism office and got the info we needed. You will also be close to shopping, restaurants and right across from the beach. I wish you a wonderful trip to Nice!!

  • Liked — The room and the view were fantastic.
  • Disliked — Shower issues. The water was always burning hot - and I like hot showers!

Despite some of the reviews on this website, we had a lovely 5 nights at this hotel. By far one of the best looking hotels along the promenade and an excellent location, minutes away from shops/ restaurants, 15min walk to the train station.
Requested a room on a higher floor (as advised by a previous review) and consequently had a balcony overlooking the city and mountains, which was lovely to wake up to every morning. Strawberries, chocolate and drink awaited us in our room, sweets from house-keeping most evenings, which all went down well! Room was a fair size, separate bath and shower.
Huge breakfast selection, sat on the terrace overlooking the sea every morning. Lovely pool area, shame the pool was freezing, however this was welcomed at times!
Nice is a beautiful holiday destination and a great base to explore from (such as Monaco, Cannes etc). Recommend visiting Marineland, as this too was a great day out. Nice and this hotel resulted in a well-needed luxurious and relaxing break.
