“Worst possible location, apart from that it's ok”

This hostel is in the worst location, not only is it far from the centre (about 20-30 mins tram ride) its also situated at the top of a massive hill, so in the hot summer months walking up the road to the hostel is a NIGHTMARE. I needed to go and buy water from the supermarket and I had to do a min trek to get to it, I guess it's ok if you like a work out but I certainly did not like the mini workout every day. Breakfast is simple, bread cereal etc nothing special. I stayed on the top floor in the twin room Very very basic beds, shower was small but ok, curtain was useless water went everywhere but whatever you can just put towels to stop it getting too wet. The reception staff, some were polite and helpful but some were just stuck up and arrogant so it's 50/50 who you deal with. Thr dinners are lovely and very reasonable about €6, great chef. The kitchen facility is good as well. My room was cleaned once in 10 days but it's okay I think you can get sheets etc from downstairs and do it yourself. Overall I think this hostel is overpriced as its certainly nothing special and the location is so awful, I would have preferred to stay in another hostel more central to nice, if you staying a week I would recommend the one week tram pass as paying a euro everyone can be excessive as I was paying up to €7 a day. I recommend this hostel for younger people definitely as it is not a place to relax at all, gets very loud and hectic and is purely for fun I felt.

Salut Queenie_N,

Thanks for the detailed review. We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. The location of the hostel should provide a quite and inspiring place. The established shuttle-service is at the client's service to avoid the little work-out you described. We would be happy to welcome you again at our Villa Saint Exupéry Beach, located in the city centre to show that we can do better.

All the best,
Léo-Paul from the Villa Saint Exupéry à Nice

A great hostel is clean, warm and welcoming. I've stayed in many that don't make this grade. However, this means that I am truly able to state that this hostel is OUTSTANDING in terms of staff, facilities, rooms, atmosphere and experience. I had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it as a budget base for your stay in the Cote d'Azur.

Although a little out of the town centre, this ends up not mattering. Its a great starting point for trips to Monaco, Eze, Cannes etc. and the staff/owners are more than happy to help you have a great time.

Nice breakfast (organic option available) and good food in the evening (although staff make it very clear that you are welcome to bring your own).

Good for families, couples, friends and groups.

The only problem that we had was that one of our beds broke....however it was fixed right away.

Room Tip: No double beds throughout the whole hostel so don't expect one!

Thisis the 2nd time I have stayed here and not disappointed. We had a private 4 bed room on the 2nd floor, it was clean, warm and adequate with a lovely view towards the bay. The atmosphere in th lounge, bar area is very relaxing. Happy hour beer 6-7pm 1 euro, cocktails 7-8pm 3.50 euros. Normally beer is 2 euro, wine 2.50 euro and cocktails 5.50 euro. Pizza 6 euro or local dish 7.50!euro. FREE tea and offee all day - great breakfast included in price. The staff are very accommodating, happy and very helpful. The ambience is arty, cultural and laid back.

Room Tip: Go 2nd floor and private rooms for the best

Location: not in downtown of Nice but very convenient thanks to frequent free pick up service of hotel to the tramway station nearby. Tramway is very low cost and take you to downtown directly. With 1€ you can get to every corners of Nice for a trip less than 74minutes. Near the market and bakery.
Staff: very friendly and helpful. They help you to show your room, suggest you what to see in Nice and surroundings and how to get there with maps, Free of charge.
Services: room has its bathroom, clean but no soap or shampoo, still has toilette paper. Not enough place to store all of your big suitcases with thoses of others room fellows. Breakfast is free and great with choices of cereals and toasts and coffee, juices. Ecofriendly hotel. Kitchen fridge microwave are availables for you to cook your own meals for your special diets.

I was initially sceptical about booking accommodation in Hostels as I heard some scary stories then decided to give Villa Saint a try and man was I proved wrong .As a female who travelled on my own I was extremely impressed with the facilities, the staff was phenomenal, they never said no to anything and was very helpful. My dorm mates were nice and decent too. I have nothing negative to say about this place. If ever you're looking for an excellent hostel to stay in Nice, this one is it.

I stayed a week in the Villa St Exupery and enjoyed every moment of it. It has very friendly staff and great facilities (endless hot water, more than a dozen computers, tea/coffee/hot chocolate on tap day and night, vast kitchen, excellent evening meals, etc). The location may not be the most central but it is in one of the greenest and nicest parts of Nice, with easy, frequent cheap links to the beach/station/etc. There is also a direct (#23) bus from and to the airport (costing only 1 euro).
As a mature solo traveller, I was very lucky to have a room (and bathroom) to myself so that I felt I had the best of both worlds: complete privacy when I wanted it and a welcoming, friendly communal space when I had enough of my own company.
It was obvious that all the staff enjoyed working at the Villa and were proud of the place. Quite rightly so.

This place was located at the top of the hill, so not really close to anything. However, did have a great bar and restaurant with very good prices. Loads of free wifi computers.

A bit hard to find.
