We booked this hotel at the last minute, for a spur-of-the-moment 3-day trip to Nice with some friends & family. We took a total of three rooms - two Ambassadeur (one bedroom suite at EUR 288 per night) and one Presidentielle (two bedrooms at EUR 480 per night).
Since the trip was rather last-minute, there were not a great many hotels in central Nice on offer and this looked (from the TripAdvisor reviews) to be the best available. The hotel gets an average TripAdvisor rating of 4 'blobs' and awards itself 4 stars; I think this is a bit over-optimistic personally and would rate it more of a 3.5 star hotel for reasons outlined below.
On arrival we were a party of eight but the desk was being looked after by one woman only and a guy who didn't speak any English and seemed interested only in handling the baggage (but clearly had a very poor memory as he had to write our room number on his hand for the journey from ground floor!). So we had to wait a long time to check in which is boring and not what I expect from 4* and above. Reception area itself was quite nice and location just a couple of blocks back from the beach was good.

Rooms were a bit of a disappointment to me. I have stayed at many, many hotels (I just notice I have reviewed something like 30 in past year or two) and this wasn't up to scratch. First problem: when we first opened the door, there was a funny smell in our room which might have been urine but whatever it was didn't add to the ambience and of course given the linguistic issues of our porter was not really possible to raise.
The room was a fairly decent size and quite well laid out, with a kitchenette and dining table at one end, sofa (convertible into bed) at other, and two bedrooms each with en-suite bathrooms. All quite modern looking, clean and nothing broken or worn.
There was a minor issue with sound-proofing in that we could virtually hear the conversation being held by the people in the next room (probably through the aircon ducting) - lucky they weren't noisy at night!
Beds were clean & comfortable. Aircon did not appear to be working consistently throughout the suite, i.e. it didn't seem to be possible to get all the bedrooms to a comfortable temperature at the same time, and this disturbed our sleep a bit.
Internet access was a joke: the hotel provided us with passwords for their two WiFi networks but none of us had WiFi (or wired ethernet) access in the rooms so you had to sit in the lobby to use the...More
