“Very nice in Nice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

This residence is in a perfect place. It would be difficult ta be more in the center then this. The triple room was very spacious. The windows were to the rue Masséna but still it was very quiet because the windows are double-glazed. When you step out of the residence, you are in the middle of "everything"! For a longer stay there is a kitchenette. I do recommend for families and "singles" alike (we were there as a family with a young child).

Location of this hotel is perfect. It is over the Rue Massena, the loveliest pedestrian street in the world. Live music every night, many bistros and bars and full of life from early morning to late evening. The room was very quiet though, you could sleep in peace.

The room was small but had everything we needed for five nights. Bed, shower, kitchen with water boiler, coffee maker and microwave, tv and air conditioning. Air conditioning is very important in Nice in July, that I learned.

Staff was helpful and spoke english very well. They are flexible in opening hours (9-19) if your flight arrives late. You get your own key, so after check-in you come and go as you like. Also we got instructions in our own language, that was not expected :)

Only negative thing was that the building is very old, and the inside of the room was a little bit worn and scruffy and not completely clean. Also there was no cleaning service (you cet clean sheets after one week), but this we knew before going. If you can live with that, I totally recommend this hotel to everyone who wants peace and privacy in hotel.

This residence has the most perfect location in Nice, really slap bang in the middle of things, it could not be faulted.

I stayed in an economy single and for the price it was a steal. It was a larger than expected room with basic but perfectly adequate furnishings with great soundproofing and good air-con. The room was on the 3rd floor looking towards the back over a large internal courtyard.

Check in is on the 5th floor, the lift is tiny and hot but enough for two people plus one suitcase. The lift is a bit odd in that it seems to stop half way between floors - that is you have to go up or down at least one flight of stairs to get to your floor, this wasn't a problem though.

The lady at reception was friendly and spoke perfect English, she gave me a list of hints and tips for the apartment including the wifi code. WiFi was fast, I measured it at 15Mbps, fast enough for Skpe and streaming video.

The kitchenette providing all pots, plates and utensils but no food basics like salt, you will need to bring these yourself. Washing up liquid was there however. A toaster, filter coffee maker, microwave, fridge with freezer shelf, kettle and two ring ceramic hob are provided. There is no oven or washing machine. Corkscrew and can opener are provided. There is no iron or ironing board.

There is no sofa but I did have a bed facing away from the window with table and chair. The air conditioning is good and operated by remote control. It took a while for the place to get cold and you are told to keep the air con off when you go out, however on hot day you come back to a hot room and it then takes 2-3 hours to get cool again, which is too long.

There was no housekeeping which suited me fine as I could have lovely long lies-in or come back to the room for a mid-afternoon nap without being bothered. There is a toilet and reasonably sized shower.

All in all highly recommended and I will be going back I am sure.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back for a quiet night's sleep. They give you a door code to access the bui...

My family really enjoyed our stay at the Ajoupa. After checking in we were led down the stairs, out the building and around the corner. We entered another building nearby and went up a couple of flights of stairs. I was a little nervous, unsure of what was happening or what awaited us. We were very pleasantly surprised! We were taken to our studio apartment which had a small kitchen, large bathroom with shower and large comfortable bed. The room was huge by French standards and was clean and well lit with a small balcony. TV and air conditioner along with iron and board. The location was just off the busy street and Place Messina, so it was perfect and not loud. We loved being able to come and go as we pleased without being bothered. There was also a small store just downstairs with fruit, bread, milk and just about anything else. Highly recommend Ajoupa!

Room Tip: Our superior studio located in a different building than the reception area was large, with a big ba...

Ajoupa Residence is the bijou of the city center. Located in the heart of the town, a minute walk from the Vieux Ville and the Promenade des Anglais. The studio I rented last year was more than perfect, it was clean and tidy. It has a small furnished kitchen area, bathroom and comfortable bed. Nice closet where you can store all the presents you are going to buy. They offer internet connection and laundry service as well.
I would recommend the Residence to all my friends and all people who want to stay and feel the spirit of Coté d'Azur! It is a place where you can't wait to come back and a place where you feel home... I

This is not luxurious accommodation but the apartments are well located just a couple of minutes from the Place Massena and close to lots of cafes, restaurants and shops, just outside the old town.

Our room was clean, quite small with some basic 'self catering' equipment - more a bedroom with a sink and cooker squeezed in. Most people will probably prefer to have breakfast at one of the numerous cafes nearby and eat out.

That said, for decent budget accommodation near the historic old town of Nice, this is hard to beat.

We were staying with friends in Eze but wanted one night in Nice. Ajoupa was the perfect place. Right in the middle of the action but nice and quiet. We opened a window to look out at Rue Massenna below and heard the noise. But when we closed the window it was quiet. They did a great job of sound proofing the room.

We walked to the water, the old town, to the market, and along many streets busy with activities. Lots of fun. Just what we wanted.

The large room was very comfortable. The large shower, along with the sink, in the semicircular glass blocked in room was very nice. We didn't use the kitchen, other than putting some stuff in the frig, but it could be very handy.

The good Indian restaurant around the corner on the side street was an added bonus as my wife and I love Indian food.

If we stay in Nice again, we will definitely good back to Ajoupa.

Room Tip: We stayed in 316, a corner room on the 3rd floor, and loved it. The corner room gave nice views in d...
