“Beautiful bldg - pity there isn't much in it”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

The building is beautiful, as is its setting. There are 4 rooms on the main floor, with about 10 items in each. The upper floor is devoted to photos about excavations in Cambodia, and the lowest level has a few more exhibits.
The Museum is in the park near the airport end of the Promenade des Anglais.
We love Asian art, but I wouldn't bother going again. On the other hand, if I were an architecture student, I would go.
If you drive, there is plenty or parking in the public garage nearby (which services office bldgs.) --- but I would give this one a pass.

“let your senses free!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013

It is firstly, a wonderfully striking modern architectural structure. Designed by Kenzo Tanze, using the harmony of circles and squares to integrate a spirituality to this edifice. Its cultural eye-candy. the museum overlooks a lake and Phoenix Parc. Divided into four sections with outstanding works exemplifying Chinese,Japanese, Cambodian and Indian civilisations
You will experience antiques, modern, precious arts & crafts, as well as,form and colours depicting its historical originality. Its very sensitively curated and spaced. Enjoy the beauty of the jade, celadon, bronzes and sculptures in red & grey sandstone from cambodia and superb collections of silks.
This museum unites the spectrum of works that date back centuries with collections of contemporary arts. You cannot possibly do this joint quickly.
Tip....take a packed lunch with you to enjoy in the marvellous surround
tip......if you have never understood Zen.....perhaps ,this may lift your lid

“Not really worth a special visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

We went because it was next to the Parc Phoenix (and free) It's awfully small but each room had a guide sheet in English to explain most of the artifacts and it was different from other galleries I have visited. Definitely not one for children.

“Stunning building”

Close to the Parc Phoenix, this museum is housed in the only building in Europe by a famous Japanese master architect. Wonderful artefacts and a photographic history of the excavation of Angkor Wat

What a lovely place and the exhibits are stunning!
