“Good location, nice no-frills hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2012

We stayed at the hotel De suede, 2 adults and one child, in a three bed room. The room was small, but recently refurbished. Location is very close to most attractions. Air-conditioning was not too powerful and there is some noise from the street when windows are open.

Room Tip: Skip the 10 Europe breakfast , you 'll find better value in the restaurants around.

The Suede is sat smack in the centre of the action in Nice, a block from Promenade des Anglais, surrounded by restaurants and close to the bus stops to take you where you need to go (airport, antibes, cannes, grasse, monaco). Check in was efficient and friendly, the room was comfortable, double glazed and clean, and breakfast was ample and sensibly priced.

A good find in a city filled with overpriced places to stay.

During my trip to Azure Coast, I spent 3 nights in De Suede hotel in Nice. It is small but nice hotel, well place so you can reach every part of Nice by foot. It is surrounded with caffees, reastoraunts, shops. On the pedastrion behind the hotel in the evenings there was a street entertainer... he really made me laugh :)
Romms were clean, comfortable just as the toilet. I have a small child so I would recommend it for family accomodation as well. During the nights if I needed it, the heeting was working properlly.
The receptionists were kind and helpfull. You won't make a mistake :)

The hotel is in a great location, minutes from the beach and promenade and the old town. We stayed in one of their recently refurbished rooms which was fine. Its basic and gets the job done if you just wanted a comfortable enough place to put your head down at night.

That being said, the air conditioning didn't work which wasnt a problem for us as we stayed in March so we just left the window open for air. Problem with that was the street was a bit noisy. The hot water was sporadic, we stayed three nights - two nights it was luke warm and one night it was scalding hot.

Okay value, you get what you pay for in a fairly expensive city where so many of the nicer places in town charge much more.

I stayed two nights at Hotel De Suede to attend Nice’s Carnival and the location was excellent. You are in the heart of the city, surrounded by restaurants/shops with easy access to the old/new city. The beach is a 2 minute walk away and the train station is an easy 15 minute walk. The hotel rooms, which are a good size for European standards, were renovated about 1 year ago and retain their fresh, clean interior. Some attention to details is needed for room 441, as the original stud holes are still visible in the bathroom where fixtures were changed and a large broken tile was hidden by the wastepaper basket. The shower was tiny, but clean and adequate.

Street noise isn’t a problem with the windows closed, but much more challenging if it’s warm, as my room was, with full sun exposure. My only complaint was the curtains, which aren’t full enough to block out the considerable street light at night and don’t include a sheer privacy curtain for use during the day, as most of the front rooms look directly across to another hotel/residence. An empty frig is included and there is a Spar grocery store around the corner. On the tiny flat screen TV I didn’t locate any stations in English, but found an occasional program in Enlgish. The room was very clean and comfortable. WiFi is free, but you need to bring your own computer. I appreciated the strict non smoking policy on the 4th floor.

Check in/check out was fast, professional and efficient. I was upgraded from a single room to a double because there were none available. My room was ready when I arrived, 1 ½ hr ahead of check in time. Breakfast isn’t included and I took a pass as it appeared uninspiring, opting for a near-by restaurant offering cheese and ham crepes + coffee.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay here, it was perfect for Carnival Season and I would recommend it to friends. I’m happy to answer any questions about Nice’s Carnival or the hotel. Enjoy your time in Nice!

Great location for Old and New towns. Surrounded by restaurants and cafes. Two minutes from airport bus stops inward and outward. Fresh and clean, sizeable modern rooms and bathrooms, well serviced by staff. Helpful reception staff. All parts of Nice easily reached on foot. Easy travel to surrounding towns by bus (only 1 Euro per trip). Carnival week was busy but interesting. Some street noise in the a.m. but unavoidable in a central location, reduced by keeping windows closed. Certainly worth looking at. Excellent at the price.

Room Tip: Go for the superior room, it's a little dearer but could sleep 3.

Our room was clean and spacious (we had a superior room) with two windows overlooking the street. We did not need the air conditioning as, being the end of October, it was cool enough at night. We do like to sleep with the windows open which we were pleased was possible, although there was quite a lot of street noise, but as this is a central location that was expected (and our choice to have windows open). The bathroom was small but very clean. We did not have the hotel breakfast as it was cheaper in several places right across the street. The staff were polite and helpful.
The location is great for all the amenities of Nice. Resturants and shops literally on the doorstep and two minutes walk to the front. Buses were great for getting around at 1 euro per trip - whether just across town or all the way to Monaco or Cannes.
This is a good, comfortable, clean hotel in a central location. Perfect for a long weekend exploring the area.

Room Tip: We had a superior room which was spacious with two windows.
