WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 2, 2019
We were a group of Egyptian families and the morning staff are more than racist, they are very rude, they do not respect the foreigners and the rooms are not as nice as they claim they are very very small and definitely they do not deserve even 2 stars.
Would never recommend it to my worst enemy.
They literally kicked out 2 families who were feeding their kids because they stayed 15 minutes more than the time for breakfast
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL

Dear Hala K,
I please you to accept my most sincere apologizes concerning the issues your met during your stay. However, I would like to clarify few points of the situation. You reservation was made with an agency for a 27 persons group. We also had another group of 24 at the hotel for the same date. As our breakfast room does not have the size to welcome everyone at the same time we chose to contact your travel agency and let them choose a breakfast time of 30minutes during which the room was booked for your group only. This decision was made in order to provide you all the comfort you need during breakfast. We may have been a little bit abrupt when we asked you to leave the room at then end of the reserved time and do really apologize for this. Concerning your accusation of racism I can only tell you that within all the staff off the hotel we do have people from Algeria, Chechenia, Argentina, Guinea, Green Cap... And we do all work together in without any issue. I hope that despite this issue you could enjoy your stay in Nice and French Riviera.
Best regards, Amandine ESTEVE

This is certainly not a 4 star hotel. I've stayed in better 3 stars. Things seem to be rationed and there are no complimentary toiletries - just one small bottle of water. There's no cooked breakfast. The decor is quirky but not quality. It's close to the station but not much else. Room, although a reasonable size suffered from street noise at all times of the night and people getting up and talking loudly at 5 in the morning. Staff were pleasant.

Dear maddie134,
Thank you very much for taking the time to share a feed-back about your stay at the Villa Bougainville. All the remarks from our guests are taken in consideration with the greatest attention in order to improve our services. I do apologize if we did not managed to reach your expectations. We have been rated 4 stars by the French commission by responding to all their criteria's. Our hotel is melted in a Belle Époque building, former villa of the famous explorer Louis Antoine de Bougainville. Our style and decor is inspired by its travels and exploration around the globe. The building has been fully renovated in 2015. As we are located in the city centre we are aware that our rooms can be noisy at some times of the day whit is why they do all have double-paned windows and are provided with ear plugs. Rooms are also provided with a courtesy tray filled with a kettles, tea and coffee. Please note that all the complimentary toiletries : body lotion, shower caps, remover pads, shaving kits, combs... can be brought to your room by requests at the front desk. As a member of the "Happy Culture Collection" you do benefit of our policy "Our hotels are your hotel" and have access to many additional services in the hotels of the company such as coffee machine are available 24/7 at the lobby, a Yummy Corner served from 2pm until 11pm, business corner, high speed Wi-Fi connection, luggage room, touristic advices... Our breakfast buffet which is filled with : white, cereals and gluten free breads, croissants, pancaked jams, ham & cheese, yogurt with toppings, cereals, fresh fruit salads, stewed fruits... Could you precise us what else you would like to find at our breakfast buffet ? Despite this issues I am delighted that our staff managed to satisfy your needs. Indeed the satisfaction of our guests is at the heart of our priorities and we always do everything in our power to make you live an unforgettable stay.
Please note that we would love to welcome for a further stay in Nice to improve your impressions about our hotel. Best regards,

My friend and I visited this beautiful, charming and reasonably priced hotel at the end of May.
Ideally located it is only a 5 minute walk to the Gar de Nice Ville and a fifteen minute walk from the Old Town and Promenade Anglais.
The staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. In particular I would like to mention Issa who went above and beyond and gave us some very good recommendations for restaurants. I would also like to say a big thank you to one of the staff members (I am sorry I don't know your name) who kindly helped us up four flights of stairs with our suitcases when we arrived late (due to a delayed flight) and the lift wasn't working.
I have seen some reviews stating that the rooms are too small but my friend and I found ours to be charming, original and very practical, with a fridge and tea making facilities and the shower was one of the best I have had. We had a lot of luggage with us but still found the size of the room to be adequate.

The Villa Bougainville also offers it's guests coffee, hot beverages, fresh lemonade and pastries in the lobby everyday. Definitely take advantage of this as they are delicious.

I can highly recommend this unique, exotic and friendly hotel.

Stayed here for Eng v Scot match at the weekend - booked two rooms. I would call it bijou and functional - no frills. The only thing that ruined it for two of us was the terrible stink of sewerage in our bedroom (top floor - right out of lift). The poor chap on reception only had a rather pathetic room spray to help the situation. We left the door open and with the shutters also wide open, managed to get a bit of a draught through to help clear the smell. Unfortunately we could not speak French well enough to stress just how it had impacted our stay, so didn't bother and tried not to let it blight an otherwise fine stay.

On the plus side, breakfast was great - just what was required and the (grown-up) children said it was their favourite meal - in spite of having eaten very well all weekend! Ample quantities of delicious juices and croissants/pain au chocolate etc. Location for us wasn't brilliant, but as others have said easy to get to/from everywhere by tram/train - so from that perspective location is fine.

Also on the plus side, reception was very helpful - we had to book cab to meet us after the match to go straight to airport and after several totally false starts of trying to book the cab ourselves, we asked the receptionist. Amazingly our taxi turned up as requested ..... outrageously expensive - but cheaper than having missed our flights!

All in all our experience was definitely clouded by the ghastly smell! Without that, it would have been a great stay.

Room tip: Do not choose Room 403 (top floor, right and straight)

Dear Sophia W,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write a detailed comment about your experience at the Villa Bougainville! All our guest's feed-back are taken in consideration with the greatest attention in order to improve our services.
I do apologize concerning the inconvenience of having a bad smell in your room. Due to very bad weather condition in April and May we suffered some troubles with our pipes. Indeed the Villa Bougainville is melted in a Belle Époque building which provides all its charm but is also challenging to maintain in good conditions. I hope you will understand that this issue was temporary and independent of our will. Overall I am delighted that you enjoyed our breakfast buffet. We do offer a large choice of whether, cereals and gluten free bread, pancakes, jams, yogurt with toppings, fruit salad as fresh fruits, ham & cheese... I am really happy that you and your child found it at your taste. Guest's satisfaction is our number one priority and we always to everything in our power to satisfy your requests. Our staff is multilingual and at your disposal 24/7 to answers all your questions. I do apologize once again for the inconvenience. To not hesitate to contact me directly for a further stay with the email address : amandine@villa-bougainville.fr. Please note that it would be our greatest pleasure to welcome you again in the cosy and exotic atmosphere of the Villa Bougainville**** ! Best regards, Amandine ESTEVE
