Review of Palais Lascaris

Now a museum, open daily, apart from Tuesdays, this wonderful aristocratic palace (or large mansion house) is worth making a detour to. Situated at 15 Rue Droite, entrance is free. You step back in time and at will be amazed at all the luxurious decor which includes panels, tapestries, paintings, ornaments and musical instruments. 1/2 an hour should be sufficient as it is not huge, although sometimes they have special exhibitions within the palace which, if you are interested in, may take a bit longer. The staircase and 18thC pharmacy, both on the ground floor, should be viewed even if you have no desire to go in any further.

This Palais is in the wrong place. Its on a crummy street in a crummy area and only worth visiting if you are in the area and it begins to rain. Its free. The music room is wonderful and you may get vey excited if you're a musician but that's the extent of it. The building is not lighted very well making the murals very difficult to appreciate and the staircase is too narrow to get a photo in depth. It certainly is authentic and there is real history here but the building should be disassembled and moved to an open space somewhere. Like most other things in the "old town" this address has seen better days.

This rather large palace is tucked away inside the narrow streets of Old Nice.. and it is FREE! It is definitely worth a visit, absolutely gorgeous and unexpected.

Do not expect a great palace but a luxury great mansion hidden in one of those narrow streets in old town. The furnishings and the scale of decorations does impress, it is FREE and you can take photos (without a flash). Takes about 40 minutes to walk around and has a great collection of musical instruments. Gives you the feel what those great families lived like in 17th century.

A smart museum in a old palace. A collection of musical instruments and furniture from the golden ages of Nice. Loved the stairs, rooms and the queen bed :)
Free entry.
