“Great location, great service”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

Easter at Windsor Nice. The hotel has fun decor, nice garden, pool, restaurant and bar. Service was excellent and we were made vey welcome on arrival. Had a nice room with balcony; clean, enough closet space, minibar, safe. Free WiFi. The hotel has a great location within a short walking distance from railway station, beach, shopping district and old town. Warmly recommended (can't wait to go back).

Room Tip: Some rooms have balconies. Enjoyed that.

We stayed at the Windsor for 2 nights with our kids (16 and 18). The hotel is very unique, blending modern art within an old traditional building. Every room is different, decorated originally by artists and very confortable. The bathroom was not big, but our shower was very large and confortable, the bed was very confortable, taken together I could easily live in our hotel room if it was a little bigger. The location is perfect and the hotel is surrounded by excellent restaurants. The Hotel has a great private garden, that looks and feels almost tropical. The only problem is parking, which is not available on site. Service was excellent, breakfast buffet is simple but good.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. Given the prices in Nice, this hotel offers very good value for money. It offers a decent stay and is very well located. Just a 5 minutes walk (max) to the old town, the coast or train station. The area itself also has restaurants and is nice and quiet at night.

The rooms are very different. We had a somewhat less extravagant room with a nice big window - no balcony. Bathroom big enough and everything clean.

minus:
- blankets on the bed were the ones that just lay on the white sheets but are not stucked in.
- room was not warm. Outisde temperature was 10-14 and no heating was working and the heating of the AC did not produce any effect other than noise so we turned it off. The blankets werent really warm so you had to get dressed quite warmly at night.
- bathroom the sink was leaking, so that the area underneath got quite flooded (room 482) during our stay. would be good to fix that
- breakfast was quite pricy in comparison and for what was offered. Croissants and Baguettes were very nice, eggs and ham rather less so. The service at breakfast was not super attentive but easy. Reception staff very friendly.
- beds were two seperate ones stucked together but not really one big bed. depends maybe on the room, though we had asked for one big bed.

overall we had a great time despite the little perks. I think if the quilt/bedsheets issue were better solved it would be a really great place to stay. like that its good value for money.

we didnt use the spa facilities. I think they are extra charged. Garden looked very nice and green.

The rooms are originally decorated by artists. Our was pretty although a bit small. I was happy to stay for a short while. For longer periods you might want a bit more space. The bathroom was very nice and the shower was reaaly great but there is no space to put your clothes or makeup bag. Book the parking because they have limited space. It is only a very short walk to the beach and to the old centre of town

I concur with the other reviewers - this hotel is a great little find in Nice. It manages to mix urban style (absolutely loved the Tintin posters on the stairs) with a classic and homely French hotel.

The rooms were comfortable, the staff friendly, the location perfect (stone's throw from the beach club which I didn't have time to try; an easy walk to the station, even with bags in summer). I met-up with some local friends in the garden and they too were impressed.

I wasn't overwhelmed by Nice, but the hotel was great.

We were able to walk the 6 blocks or so down from Nice Ville station after getting off the TGV.

There are many restaurants within walking distance, some which start as little as 1 or 2 blocks away, then the main restaurant strip is about 5 minutes walk. Only a few blocks down to the beach too.

This is a relatively populated area and felt safe walking around well after dark (in the low tourist season where things are quieter).

The room itself had a nice vibe with artistic walls, big enough to have a small table and of note was excellent water pressure in the shower.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Nice at a good price.

The only problem we found was that the heater system in the room was very warm and dried the air out considerably. However, I didn't ask reception about this, so maybe the heaters can been turned down somehow.

The hotel is conveniently situated for walking to Nice's many attractions yet quiet enough to avoid most of the city's noise. We upgraded to an Intimite room on the fourth floor facing south which we found to be more to our conservative decorative taste but which also included a really good bath tub. We enjoyed the dining experience with a good choice of imaginative food and although it was fairly quiet, it made it easier to strike up conversations with other guests. We found all staff at reception and in the dining room to be very helpful, polite and informative. Buses (one Euro!) and trains (with concessions where appropriate) are close by and worth using for excursions along the stunning coast and up to the hilltop villages. Overall an enjoyable experience which we would like to repeat perhaps another year.

Room Tip: Ask to see a couple of rooms especially if you need one as quiet as possible like us. Check out the...
