We stayed here at the end of August because the hotel that we had originally booked with - the Hi Hotel - had overbooked us, so they booked us here promising it would be the same standard.

This ended up being the most disgusting place I have ever stayed in. The carpets were filthy, the pillows stank of grease, there were pubic hairs in the bed covers and several of the electrical sockets were damaged with wires on display. Our kitchenette was missing most of the things needed to actually cook with - saucepans, clean cutlery etc. Our hearts sank when we walked in the room, then when we went to Reception to politely ask for our money back as this was not what we had paid the other hotel for, we could not believe how rude and disinterested the old woman behind the desk was. They refused to give us a refund or move us to another room, claiming that we should be grateful as we had one of the best rooms they offer! What squalor were the other guests staying in?! After that they ignored us for the rest of the time we were there.

We are not people that usually complain but this was supposed to be a romantic holiday and we were absolutely gutted that we had to spend part of it here, wasting our hard earned cash.

The location was ok if you're happy to mess about on the tram or walk for 20 minutes to get to Place Massena and the central attractions.

The other issue we had was that the Reception closes at 10pm; this would be fine but when we arrived back at the entrance around 11.30pm our keys would not let us back in. The neighbourhood is pretty dodgy and I was genuinely scared until, thankfully, more guests showed up and after nearly an hour of standing outside, waiting for the Management to come and let us in, some clever person figured out we could get in via the underground car park. Thank goodness for him.

I have never said this before about anywhere but ... don't stay here, it is awful.

Room Tip: Don't book a suite, they are filthy.

We arrived early and the reception was closed so we had a drink in a local bar and the reception opened at 13.30 for check in. The room was clean, with a clean bathroom and a kitchenette of sink, 2 hobs and a microwave plus crockery and cutlery. Around the corner there is a large supermarket called Casino where you can buy groceries, I found it particularly good there as eating out was difficult for me in Nice as France doesn't cater well for vegeteratians so it was lovely to have an equipped kitchen. The appartments are around the corner from the Tram that takes you straight into central nice in a few minutes for 1 Euro. Would definitely stay there again. Downsides included getting bitten in the room (don't know if it's bed bugs or mosquitoes), Also we were charged a 5 Euro city tax each upon arrival which we weren't expecting.

I spent two nights and I thought it was a good find. It's right on the tramway and a day pass on the tram is only 4€. It's a 5min ride to the old city. I had a room with a double bed and a small kitchen. The room was perfect for my needs and was clean. There is no wifi in the rooms, only wired access. There is free wifi in the lobby.

Nasty in Nice
(Could be used for a training reference of How not to run a guest establishment)
On our arrival for a one week stay we were given our room key only to find a filthy bathroom floor with in-ground dirt of either excrement or blood in the floor tiles and on the exterior of the toilet bowl.
We immediately returned to reception and were told that there was a design fault in all the bathroom floor tiles and that they had been cleaned already.
Again we commented on the exterior of the bowl and were told that there were no other rooms available and that the reception would come up and clean the said item
(We had booked and paid over 640 euros for our stay 6 months in advance but this obviously made no difference to room allocations)
It was cleaned and on leaving the bathroom the shower head was thrown on the floor in disgust, obviously our request for basic cleanliness had caused a problem.
On the first morning we realised that we didn’t have a plug in the sink so shaving and washing in the sink was impossible, we did ask at reception on our way out but on our return over 6 hours later still no plug, on asking again at reception we were told that they didn’t have any!! But on insisting on the item one was removed from another guest room!!!
Our first morning to breakfast was yet another challenge as the breakfast room itself was inadequate in size and in complete chaos, no seating available which left no alternative but to take our breakfast back to our room.
When commenting to reception later we were told there was convention group staying till weekend but things should improve.
The design of the property is very poor, in the bedrooms bed settees (as in other apart-hotels) would have been an advantage and provided somewhere to sit to watch TV etc instead of sitting sideways on the bed.
Also the breakfast area is far too small to accommodate the amount of guests and the only fire exit was blocked with two unused highchairs
Overall the service at breakfast was abysmal, dirty tables, no tea spoons, no cereal bowls (offered coffee cup to eat cereal out of) it was hit and miss on what was on offer no breakfast tea bags 2 days, no apple juice 2 days, fruit salad one day only even though the bowls remained and milk was always empty and straight from a cut carton.
This establishment was only opened in 2011 yet has fallen into disrepair through lack of basic cleanliness and ongoing maintenance, dirty carpets throughout, broken hand rail in the lift and broken shower heads that only point to the wall and no soap dish holder only 2 rawl plug holes.
With no feedback or guests comments invited on checking out it is obvious that repeat business is not a goal for this establishment.
We are experienced travellers who have been to many countries and stayed in Hotels, Apartments and Apart-hotels in fact we had just spent 7 nights in Paris at another groups Apart-hotel at a similar cost with no issues and feel we can judge these types of accommodation fairly.

Room Tip: Top tip, Keep looking for an alternative place to stay, dont book this one

My wife and I booked a 1-bed apartment in this aparthotel online. We have stayed all over France in other aparthotels and always been very satisfied. However, beware, these are NOT "apartments" - there is one room with a tiny kitchenette, no proper bed in the room - the "bed" is a sofa converted to a "bed" with metal rails & very uncomfortable - we didn't sleep properly for the 4 nights we stayed and woke every morning with aches and pains.

The air conditioning only worked sporadically so we had to leave window open, but the main train line (between Nice Ville and Nice Riquier and on to Monaco) runs behind the hotel (our room was at the back) and the regular passing trains are unbelievably loud.

The tiles on the bathroom floor were filthy when we arrived and looked like they'd never been cleaned. Also, there was a gap between the shower door and floor, and the floor did not slope towards the drain, so every time we took a shower, water poured out onto the bathroom floor, making the bathroom floor more like a swimming pool. Having a shower in the room was a very stressful and arduous experience!

Every though you are expected to clean the room yourself & are requested to have the kitchen clean before you leave, there were no cleaning products or bin bags in the kitchen. Again, when we arrived, the fridge was extremely smelly and looked like it had never been properly cleaned.

There is no wifi in the rooms - only in reception on the ground floor. The problem here is that there are only 2 seats in the reception area, so people have to either stand or sit on the floor while using wifi!

On arrival at 12pm, reception was closed and the only two seats in Reception were occupied, and there was nowhere to leave our bags, so we had to haul them back down the street in the midday sun. We came back at 2pm and were told that our room would not be ready till 3pm.

On one evening, while using wifi in Reception (sitting on the ground!), a Chinese tourist with little English or French arrived to find Reception closed and the door locked - I opened the door to let him in but he didn't know what to do - the poor guy was in a panic. Eventually we found a phone no. for him to ring but there seemed to be a lot of confusion as to how he could get his room key. This must have been an exhausting experience for him after a day's travelling.

Also, you need a code to get in the front door after Reception closes (around 8pm I think), but a couple of times at night, the door wouldn't open for us or others waiting outside and we had to wait for a guest coming out to open the door from inside. I don't know what would happen if it was later and there were no guests coming out.

The area is not very pleasant and while we love walking, we felt it was safer to get the tram to Nice centre and avoid walking on these streets. The aparthotel is beside Vauban tram stop however.

In conclusion, the accommodation is very expensive for what you get and we would definitely NOT stay here again nor would we recommend these 1 "bed" (or should that be rock hard sofa?!) apartments to anyone else. You can see from my other reviews of hotels that I generally give quite good reviews, but this accommodation was really disappointing.

This is a modern apartment hotel. The studio room is on the small size with a small kitchenette. Ideal, reasonably priced accommodation that benefits from being next to the tram line into Nice. It was clean though short on some kitchen facilities e.g coffee making facilities, though this can be rectified by buying a small plastic filter and papers from stores such as Monoprix (non food store) in Place Garibaldi, also by the tram line. The room is a little like a smaller version of a Premier Inn room. The shower room/wc was a good size. Staying in this accommodation means that you will use the tram frequently, taking into account the 4 Euro fare from the airport and the same to the airport and the 1 euro fare on each journey it may pay to buy a 7 day pass for 15 euros even if you are only staying for 4/5 days.
