After a bit of confusion finding it, I couldn't have asked for a more unexpected treat inside! Gilles met us with his lovely dog Claudette and was easily the nicest host we'd met on our trip. The room was clean and bright, loved the decor. Everything you want to do is within walking distance; shops, great restaurants and the beach. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat, and you can't beat the price. Make sure to ask Gilles how he got his amazing dog--it's a story you won't forget!

Room Tip: The suite on the kitchen side faces the courtyard rather than the street front, great morning light.

We enjoyed staying at the Hotel Victor Hugo in Nice as it was like arriving home. Rather like a bed and breakfast in a lovely old building on Bd Victor Hugo. We were always welcomed warmly by Gilles and his friendly dog Claudette. All the rooms have a Victor Hugo theme and are bright and clean with comfortable beds, free wi fi, good bathroom and the breakfast room is pleasant with a decent breakfast laid out. It is walking distance to the Promenade des Anglais and the beach, and the Cours Saleya, the heart of the Old town. Bus and trams are convenient for visiting the Chagall and Matisse Museums.
We much prefer this friendly, small and personal accomodation then the big hotels and would recommend the Hotel Victor Hugo.

Room Tip: We had the Guernsey Studio and loved it. Large ,bright and comfortable room at the front.

We had a wonderful one night stay at this hotel. The location is great, we were able to walk to the beaches and the Chateau. The host was very welcoming and charming and the room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was nicely laid in the breakfast room, I enjoyed a lot the fresh pastries and fruit. Totally recommend this place!

Couldn't have picked a better place for our 2 night stay in Nice. Can only agree with everyone, Gilles is a perfect host. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable and we were happy with the breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Gilles is the perfect host: welcoming, friendly, efficient & organized. He arranged airport pickup for us, and from the moment our plane touched down and we were met by a driver with our name card, we knew we were in professional hands. We had quiet nights (no earplugs needed in this safe, upscale neighborhood), and we set out each morning armed with maps and excellent insider tips. ... after an appealing breakfast, of course. We travelled with our 14-year old granddaughter, and we all 3 agree that Gilles was our favorite host during our entire visit of France.

A 3-night stay here in early May, and a wonderful one at that. Gilles, the owner, is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area....and his dog Cossette is a charmer. The hotel itself is very nice, and as others have already said, is on a lovely street and in a beautiful building. It really is an ideal setup. Our room was everything you'd want - very clean, very comfortable bedding, ample space in both bedroom and bathroom, nicely furnished with table and chairs, a view to the park across the street, and maybe most importantly - quiet. No earplugs necessary here. Like some others, we too took breakfast every day in our room - and why not, when we could people-and-park watch out the windows. Easy walks to everything you'd want to see in Nice (esp the beach), and with its proximity to the train station, easy to get transportation for the many day trip possibilities. Add the great morning coffee, the sink, micro, coffee maker, and fridge in the room, and it's definitely a place we'd come back to.

This little B&B/hotel is well run and very comfortable. The breakfast room is small but the breakfast more than adequate. The location is good, just across the road from a small park and 10 minutes from the beach and rail station.
The hotel is in an old building shared with professional rooms and private apartments - so security is good and generally quite.
we only had 2 nights in Nice and at Victor Hugo but would most definitely recommend this hotel.
