Westminster Hotel & Spa

We had an enjoyable visit to The Westminster. The staff are very friendly/helpful, great gigantic mirrors on the stairs, and the location on the Promenade is superb. Its worth paying extra for a sea view, although the view from higher floors is probably better than our 1st Floor view. For seasoned travellers, there are a few ommissions - no slippers, robes or tea/coffee facilities, No iron/board in the room - I was directed to a room on the second floor where there was one of those steam irons with the large tank (I decided to go with the creased look). For Brits, the TV had all of the BBC and ITV channels.

Room Tip: Sea view, as high as possible.

And we will be back again.
It is starting to show its age and is in need of a little tlc on the outside - but that is part of its charm.
Excellent location - do get a sea view room though.
We negotiated a very good package directly with the hotel for dinner B&B so do contact them directly.
Very helpful multi lingual staff.
If driving there is an almost hidden small road next to the hotel (on the Negresco side) leading to the parking Massena - expensive but secure and very close.

Dear Boucheboy,

Thank you for your kind feedback. You are right the hotel needed a "little tic" on the outside. Actually we are carrying refurbishing works on the façade and the balconies up to the end of November.
Concerning the rates, you are right too ! The best deals are on the website of the hotel, it is always better to reserve directly to get the best value.
We are looking forward to your fourth visit as a valued and repeated guest.

The location of the hotel is perfect, with many good restaurants nearby, also not a long walking distance to the old town. We stayed at a room on the fifth floor (there are 2 lifts) with sea view which was excellent. Our bed was big and comfortable. I like the red marble wall in the bathroom. Love the view from our balcony of the mediterranean sea and the vibrant Promenade des Anglais. It is a nice and convenient place to stay when you are in Nice.

This would have to be the best hotel we stayed in in France. We had lost our passports prior to arriving and the girl behind the desk took over and had them there in 2 days . We had a slight hiccup with our room but it was immediately solved and we were up graded. Staff was fantastic . The only thing missing was our own tea/coffee facility and breakfast was a bit ordinary but will definitely go bk next year when we go

I stayed at the Hotel Westminster in Nice in October, which I enjoyed thoroughly. The staff was welcoming and professional, the bed was comfortable and the surroundings were very elegant. I would strongly recommend that you pay a bit more and get a sea view room. The view is amazing ; I found myself looking through the window most of the time when I was in my room. The only weak points are perhaps the shower not having a lot of pressure and that you could hear some noises from the room next door (nothing to disturbing though) Other than that, I enjoyed my stay at the Westminster and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Nice.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a sea view room. Definitely worth the extra money!

A very grand hotel, and superficially, great.
But:
We had a group buffet on the first night after arrival - not very good. Plain food which was not very warm.
Wines and other drinks are very expensive.
Bar staff were not very attentive.
The shower contained no curtain (and this was true for the other 13 rooms for our party), so it was impossible to avoid the bathroom floor being drenched.
The last night of our stay, apparently represented the change of seasons from summer to winter. As a result, by computer, the air conditioning was changed from cooling to heating, so our room was like a sauna. There was no warning about this, although it was explained next morning.
The area is very noisy, with drunken locals and tourists still celebrating loudly at 4 am!
Most unlikely to revisit or to recommend.

However, breakfast buffet staff and receptionists were very pleasant and helpful.

A lovely looking hotel with great history, but needs staff whose performance matches its splendour.

Room Tip: Don't pay the extra for the seaview room as this exposes you to the noise of drunken locals and...

Dear John V.
We are in receipt of your comments and thank you for your analysis. We would prefer just to read that we are a very grand hotel with a lovely looking and that our staff is very pleasant and helpful. But you had a bad experience with the noise and the temperature of the room and we are sorry for that. Of course the noise in the street is out of our control but fortunately this is exceptional. Concerning the temperature of the rooms it is true that we ordered the system to heat up the rooms because we had the information that temperature on that day was decreasing critically. 48h after the temperature increased again and we stopped the heating. Concerning the shower curtains in the rooms, it was a decision taken by our designer for hygiene and esthetics reasons but further to the comments of our guests we decided to put shower curtains this winter in our rooms.
We thank you for your time. The staff and I hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you once again to our hotel very soon.
