My friend and I were there 3 nights in late September. Wonderful location. Great hotel. We figured out we were upgraded to a junior suite. No one told us, we figured it out. Had a wonderful huge corner suite. The view is outstanding. Easy to walk to shopping and restaurants. Nice breakfast also. Would highly recommend this hotel. Weather was nice also. A little rain but mostly sunny.

Booked to stay 3 nights but only stayed 1. We had booked a room on the fifth floor as this floor had been recently refurbished. When shown to our room it was very dull and drab. There was a very steal smell, possibly cigarettes. When I contacted reception I was shown a number of other room which were no better. One had really bad stains on the carpet. We were shown a junior suite with sea view which was very nice so we agreed to pay the extra supplement to stay in it. On checking in to this room I went into the bathroom and to my horror I found a used sanitory towel still there from the previous guest. As this room was only available for one night we checked out the next day.

If you are looking for nice bright, fresh, clean accommodation I would not recommend the Westminister. Pay a bit extra and stay in one of the more superior hotels.

Room Tip: Only stay if you are getting a good rate on a junior suite with sea view.

The location of this hotel was fantastic. Stayed with my sister and her friend and we had two rooms. Right on the promenade and around the corner from the old town. The building is beautiful, and the room where breakfast is served is gorgeous. The breakfast was good and there was quite a good choice (although the scrambled eggs a bit runny for my liking) The rooms were a very decent size for France and the decorations very simple but tasteful. I did a lot of research and this was the best value for money for a 4 star hotel in this location. It was perfect for doing day trips to Monaco and Cannes. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. The one downfall is that it only has one lift and you could end up waiting for a bit.

Very nice looking hotel, right on the Promenade and across the beach. The room was fine and the bathroom nice and modern, A little problem with the shower though - it wouldn't stay at an angle needed for use, the water ran towards the wall only. The personnel at the reception were very nice, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The staff in the restaurant was unfortunately a whole other story. At a business lunch, had to ask for water at least 3 times before getting it. There was also a problem with the elevator for a while. I had to walk 5 flights of stairs with the luggage. Noone offered to help me with it. The breakfast was OK but definitely not a 4 star quality or variety. But having a little espresso machine available for self-service was a good enough compensation!
We had a meeting in a large conference room. Probably one of the most beautiful conference rooms I have ever been too. Sculpted ceilings, frescos... But it smelled mold and the air conditioning units were quite old, noisy and blew very cold air in their closest vicinity while not reaching the rest of the room.

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights from 01 October 2012 and really enjoyed the experience. Was upgraded to a sea-view room which was comfortable with breakfast supplied with a good choice and sufficient food. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Special recognition should go the restaurant manager for his undivided attention when we dined on two occasions; the Friday evening was extremely busy but the service was excellent. Food was also excellent with good portions and excellent wine. I may say that it was cheaper to dine here than in the Baracuda restaurant around the corner for similar type meals!!
All in all an excellent stay. DG Richards & SM Richards

Room Tip: Select a sea view as opposed to a city view.

The interior of the hotel was very old and quite worn but it had its charm. The room was clean and the staff friendly. This hotel is a great option if you want to stay near Promade the Anglais and the beach. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel because we found good and cheaper alternatives nearby.

Spent four nights at the Westminster, and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We had booked a Double sea facing room, but on arrival we were upgraded to a Junior Suite.

The room was very spacious, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was equipped with both a walk in shower and a bath tub with a hand held shower. The sea view from the balcony was excellent, although obviously the higher the floor, the better the view. At night, once the balcony and window doors were closed, and the electric blinds lowered, the traffic noise was kept to a minimum, and fortunately the air conditioning worked well.

The main entrance hall has marbled floors and staircase, and old traditional paintings and furnishings, as do the two small lounges on either side of the main entrance. Some of the marble flooring is cracked, as pointed out by other reviewers, but what do you expect from a Hotel that was created in the early twentieth century. The older flooring goes with the charm of the old building.

Breakfast was served in one of the main dining rooms, and was relatively full every morning, although I should expect that most of the people having breakfast had the price included in their room rate, for at Euro 40 for a couple, it wasn't cheap, but having said that I will point out that the price is around what other hotels of the same standard as the Westminster charge more or less anywhere in the world.

The staff were polite and friendly, especially the main concierge, and the lady who ran the bar most nights.

The bar, where you could also sit on the terrace, served good cocktails, and you soon got used to the noise of the traffic.

Dinner was served every evening on one of terraces, but we did not eat there, so I can't comment on the standard of the food or service.

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay, and we will definitely return. Would I recommend the Hotel to other people? Definitely.

The only slight criticism that I will make is that perhaps the actual reception area could be updated. After all, is it really necessary for guests to see every file and folder in the office, along with the photocopy machines etc..? First impressions count!.

Room Tip: Take a Sea view Room - the higher the floor the better.
