Hotel de Berne - Nice

This hotel is located close to the train station and right around the corner of the main street. There are many shops, restaurants, fast food chains close by so perfect location!

Our room was quite small but still comfy. Only probably we had with the room was the shower, it was incredibly small. Once you stand inside you cannot really move around otherwise you will either turn the shower off or get burnt when your skin touches the hot metal tap!

Breakfast was good and the contact we had with staff as well

Although around Nice station is very busy we didn't really hear much noise from our room. It was spacious enough, with a very clean en suite. We stayed with our 10 month old baby and she was provided with a very clean travel cot. They let us use the fridge to put her baby milk in. We took our own travel kettle as the room didn't have one.
I would definitely stay here again - it's literally 100 metres from the station, clean with friendly staff.

Arrived in Nice at 10pm in the high of summer without a hotel booking, having checked online a few hours earlier and found nothing. We found this hotel around 5 minutes from the train station, and for only 80 euro had a room for the night.
Checkin was very quick, and the staff friendly. We were assigned a room on the 3rd floor which had three single beds in it, which could be pushed together if you wanted. Quiet room, had air con and was clean. The bedding had old marks on them, but had definately been cleaned. Provided with soap and shampoo, although toiletries packs were available for purchase from the reception. The room also had a balcony.
5 minutes walk to the train station, 5 minutes to the main shopping district, 15 minutes to the old town and beach or 2 minutes by tram located on the doorstep of the hotel.

All very reasonable for 80 euro's in Nice, at the high of summer, at the last minute. Would definately recommend it for someone on a budget but still wanting something comfortable.

Stayed at this hotel as part of a Topdeck tour traveling through Europe. Stayed for 2 nights. Was supposed to be double occupancy but ended up with an extra bed which was nice. Bathroom is quite small but big enough for what we needed.
All furniture is new and the rooms were very clean.
Windows that faced a gross alley, but cool nonetheless, some people had balconies.
Staff were generally fairly helpful.
Only 1 lift which is quite small, so it was much easier to take the stairs.
Free wifi, always a bonus.
Very centrally located, about a 15 - 20 minute walk to the beach, but great shopping and food right around the corner. Only a bit of sketchiness in the area, but not too bad. Right next to train and tram stations.
All in all a decent hotel! Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here simply because we were staying in a Key Campsite in the middle of nowhere and fancied a night in a city!

It is clean, fairly comfy and the room we had was quite large with a TV too!
it's very close to the city centre (right by the train station and a tram station as well) and not far from the beach.

The only thing that I would say is that the price is quite expensive considering it's not that great, and only a 2* hotel! I'm sure there's better for cheaper, but we just booked the cheapest one we could find just for that evening!

Given it's proximity to the motorways and train station there is some noise, but it's not so bad you can't sleep!

I would recommend it to friends but warn them they could probably find better deals elsewhere!

PROS:
- the reception area and corridors have been nicely renovated...but the rooms are yet to be finished
- location is ok - across the road from train station, fast food nearby, 24hr chemist on the corner, supermarket next door, street just to the right is the main street - follow it all the way down to the 'beach' (about 15-20 min walk)
CONS:
- it is noisy - there was a lot of noise from the street coming through the shut window
- the shower was tiny - couldn't wash my hair without banging my elbows on the walls
- breakfast was a shambles - there were 2 tour groups staying there and only one staff member on duty - she had to keep the food stocked, clear the tables and wash all the plates by hand - it just didn't work, everything needed replenishing and you basically had to ask for one thing after another - you would think they would put on extra staff knowing how many guests they had staying and requiring breakfast

The hotel is situated in the end of main street of Nice, neighborhood there isnt very nice. Far from beaches but close to shopping area. Positive things about this hotel are closeness to railway station (right in front of the hotel) and free wifi.
There is no table in the room, only that one on which tv set stands. But furniture is new. No english channels. There is a slot under the door so you can hear noise from hallway. Audibility in the hotel is very good (its obvious what people do in other rooms: talk, flush the toilet, etc.). The street is noisy too (trams pass by every 5 min). Once after 10 pm hotel door was closed and there was nobody at reception. Although personnel in lobby was pretty friendly. There is luggage room that is not locked.
In general this hotel is suitable for overnight or budget stay (price was very attractive).
