“Just for location”
Reviewed July 5, 2012 via mobile

We choosed this hotel as last checkpoint of our vacation as it is located near airport.
Rooms and service are below average.
Hand towel was missing from the bathroom, we called the front desk to deliver missing towels.
Guess what?
They said it's better if we came down to collect the towels!!!!!
Realised later that front desk was full of trainees

After a magical trip around the french rivera, Nice is the only airport we counld fly out of. We decided to stay at Campanille because it is across the street from the airport. That's about the only + it has. The room was not very clean, the bed and furniture were really cheap. The hotel looked run-down over all. The worst part was the neighborhood, when we were arriving to the hotel, at around 11pm, the street had a prostitute every 30 ft, it made us really nervous that we were staying there. Eventhough we tried to go to our room as fast as possible, we did catch a couple prostitutes coming in and out of the hotel. The hotel did not have a porter to help with luggage. They did not offer king size beds.

stayed here last night before travelling home as we had a very early morning flight. room had all amenities for an airport hotel and was very clean. reception staff were very efficient especially when busy. The only downside is if there is a flight landing late at night it can be quite noisy around midnight in the corridors when new people are checking in. didn't eat here but the menu and breakfast seemed very good value for money. if you're flying out of the airport, the hotel provide a free shuttle service to your terminal :)

We switched over to this hotel from a local B&B due to availability issues associated with late booking mid-way through our trip in Nice. For the price, the rooms are quite nice. You have air conditioning which is a godsend in the summer months where the temperature is stable at 30+ degrees. Adequate space, adequate shower, free wifi.

During our first night my fiance became quite ill from severe sunburns and attempted to sleep in. I put a DND sign up. At 10am, the maid knocked on our door asking if we would like our room cleaned. As she did not speak english and my fiance who is bilingual was bedridden, I managed to convey the message by pointing at the DND sign still hanging on our doorknob which was apparently ignored. The second morning, we realized that these rooms have paper thin walls due to the excessive amount of noise we have been forced to endure every single morning since. The beds slide around quite easily, and as such when they are being cleaned, the maid is sliding them around which scrapes them against the wood floors causing a great deal of loud rubbing/scraping noise which goes on from around 9am until noon. Nonstop. Very, very loudly. It's quite maddening, so I suggest waking up early if you will stay here. Case in point: It is 10:15am right now while I am writing this review, and I am still hearing this very loud rubbing/scraping noise.

We tried their breakfast once. At 10E per person, the buffet offers orange juice, apple juice, three flavours of corn flakes (chocolate, regular, and country), a bowl of surprisingly low quality fruits, yogurt, croissants and coffee. The quality of each breakfast item was the lowest that we have found in Nice. I suggest picking up a few fruits at the market near the train station at Nice-Ville for comparison, and you will understand what I mean.

There is free Wifi all over the hotel. The speeds are generally painstakingly slow during the mornings, fast enough in the afternoons, and completely unusable every night. When we mentioned this to the staff, their response was that the hotel is full so there isn't anything which can be done.

The "Square" where this hotel is located is surrounded by hookers every night which we found amusing. Between 4 and 10 of them on every side of the square depending on which day you go out. If you leave through the back, you will find that the train station is a mere five minute walk, which is quite convenient as this allows you to enter the downtown core for 1.60 EURO via a five minute train, instead of walking down the promenade for an hour and a half (7.6km) or taking a 35EUR taxi. Note that the last train heading back to the hotel leaves at around 10pm. If you are out after that time, your choices are essentially limited to walking or taking that taxi.

Overall, this hotel is a great value. As long as the hookers don't bother you, using the wifi isn't important, and you wake up early: You should have a pleasant experience.

This is the second time we have used this Campanile and by comparison to most others we have visited it is more up market. The rooms are still the same. However, this time our room did not smell of smoke and was as usual clean but basic. They must have the smallest baths that are made in each bathroom. Despite being opposite the airport, we were not kept awake by the noise. The hotel staff are pleasant and helpful. The food is good and the breakfast also more than adequate. What is good is that there is an underground car park which goes with the hotel for a small fee, however you have to go to the reception to find out how to get there as it is not simple and parking at the hotel entrance is very difficult.

Nice is a perfect stop-over destination, and if your stop-over includes a night, Campanile is the perfect hotel choice. The hotel is close to the airport shuttle stop (called Arenas). The shuttle, which operates every 10 minutes, takes you to the terminals in 10 minutes. If you are going to/coming from terminal 1, you can also walk. It only takes 7 minutes, which is very convenient. The hotel as well as the airport is also only 20 minute bus ride from downtown (buses 9 or 10 from Arenas or 98 or 99 from the airport). The service at the hotel was good, the room was clean and nice. I've certainly payed a lot more for a lot poorer standard elsewhere. I definitely recommend a stop-over in Nice. It's a such a beautiful city and small enough to see in one day.

The only good point about this hotel is its location if you have to catch an early morning flight and you want to avoid paying min 30 EUR taxi fee from the city centre. The airport terminal 1 is just on the other side of the highway and is easily reachable on foot (5 minutes).

Apart from that there's nothing good about the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the airport can be noisy.
