My girlfriend Victoria and I stayed at Clair Hotel for one night on our first trip to this beautiful city on April 24th 2014. Our Hosts we're absolutely fantastic and charismatic almost felt like we had a personal guide to the area and were happy to answer any questions and give us tips on where to go and how to get there.

The hotel is located on a quiet little street just a block off the main road that Leads to Monte Carlo(From which you can catch an hourly bus into the country of playboys) , It is also 2 blocks from an excellent little grocery/liquor store and about a 10-15 minute walk to both the main train station and the metro (which loops the city and is a few stops from the beach)

The hotel itself is intimate and quiet (except when guests forget to bring a corkscrew and they try to remove the cork by slamming the bottle on the building) :S ***obviously this was my mistake***** but my redneck operation was quickly brought to a halt and was given a corkscrew and a friendly reminder that people live in more close proximety to each other in Europe.
There is a beautiful Rooftop garden Courtyard where a delicious continental breakfast is served in the open air and it was a truly fantastic way to start the day!

Would reccomend Clair hotel to anyone staying in Nice for a short or extended stay. Was just perfect!

I was a first time visitor to Nice with a friend of mine in June 2014. We could not have had more welcoming and accommodating hosts and Lupa and Esther were helpful and informative. Our room was lovely and big and the showers were nice and powerful! All in all I could not recommend this place enough and we will definitely be coming back. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

The 98 bus from the airport stops nearby, as does the 100 bus to Monaco. The room was large and the shower was mainly hot, but sometimes variable. The owners were very friendly. The courtyard was so peaceful, a beautiful place to chill after a busy day. The location was great, very close to the buzzing old town, which had many great restaurants. The park with the ancient chateau was also nearby and had some amazing views of Nice.

This family owned hotel/hostel is perfect if you want to stay near both the old town and to the beaches and be able to communicate in english. Our room was simple and straight forward with a kitchenette. We chose to make our breakfast and easier kinds of cooking the 5 days that we spent at the hotel. You could find both smaller supermarkets and lovely "boulangeri" in the nearby area. It was very nice to have the possibility to fix a cup of coffee or to have a glas of chilled rosé after a day in the sun. We enjoyed to have our meals in the mediterranean garden and to meet other guests for some small talk. The hotel managers, mr and mrs, were very helpful and showed us alternative places and beaches to visit. The port is just around the corner and there are several bus routes ( bus 98 to the airport). It is easy to go by bus in Nice town and to other locations at the Cote d' Azur.
We could recommened this kind of lodging instead of a traditional hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for aircondition if you want that. Ask about the beds. Maybe you sleep better with 2 beds than a...

We arrived early and I used the restroom next to the office. It was dirty, full of diapers and toys and disorganized. We checked into our room after we had paid since we planned to leave early. I think the owner said it used to be a girls school The room was very hot, there is only one sliding glass door onto a small walled garden (no ventilation) and I was concerned about security (one tiny lock that can easily be broken into). The furnishings are old and tatty. We left immediately but the owner would not offer a refund since she requires 48 hours notice. This is an okay place if you don't plan to spend any time in the room and you do not mind a small dungeon like room with old bedding. Be careful with your valuables too since it would be easy for a thief to enter the garden and pick the locks.

Room Tip: Don't stay here. You can do better even at hotels near the airport and just take a bus into tow...

Good morning Vivian,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
I am sorry you found the bathroom the way you did , it is however our own personal bathroom and not generally for our clients .We have recently become Grandparents again hence the disorder.
All the rooms have ventilation , I do understand it was a very hot day.
Your concerns about security I would like assure you that during our 10 years at Clair hotel we have never ever had one incident of theft or items missing from rooms or intruders in the private garden.
We are a small family run hotel and always try hard to listen to our customer's needs as much as possible. If you had come to us and communicated your needs we would have been happy to help.
I do hope you found a hotel that suited your needs and enjoyed your stay in Nice.

Sincerely yours Esther

We stayed in this hotel as a small group of friends on a road cycling holiday. The location is ideal in that it is very central - a five minute walk to the port area (many bars and restaurants) which also has stops for the 98 bus to the airport (journey approximately 30 minutes). Despite being so close to the port, it is very quiet. The Intermarche (supermarket) is also on the doorstep - so it is very easy to stock up on provisions. The hosts are very welcoming and will try to accommodate your specific needs and requirements where possibly.

The rooms are simple and straight forward - with most accessed via a lovely courtyard which is accessible to all. The courtyard provides a pleasant setting for breakfast (an extra - but good) as well as an opportunity to chat to other guests.

Nice & the Cote d'Azur can be an expensive place - we felt the prices were good value.

As for the cycling - the courtyard provides plenty of space to prep your bike - the rooms are big enough to keep bikes and bike boxes in. The hotel is ideally located for exploring the coastal routes as well as the inland hills - with the start of the Col d'Eze just a few minutes away.

We hope to return - possibly next year.

Room Tip: The rooms accessed directly off the courtyard are cooler in the summer.

We were a little concerned that is might be to far from the airport, but it turned out to be the perfect little place in the Cote d'Azure. They were out side waiting for us just like we were family, from the time we got there. You can walk anywhere and take all the transportation from here. Old town is just a 10 minute wonderful walk. It is very safe and very clean. They're is a lovely little courtyard outside the room were you can unwind, sip coffee or wine and smell the ocean air. A supermarket on the corner and a patisserie across from that. Elton John's house is up the mountain, Sean Connery is down the road, Tina Turner's house is past the Marina and Bono's house is on the tip of the peninsula! Being right next to the port, allowed for beautiful evening strolls overlooking the coast...This place is magical! Hubert was great at giving directions and accommodating all of our needs. We will definitely stay here again.
