“Great hotel,location and staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for 2 nights and found the location was great, right in the middle and only 10 mins to the 'old city' and beach (pebble)

Staff were wonderful, so helpful and had no problem booking our tours and giving us great recommendations

Room and bathroom was clean and good size for Europe standards and even had a gorgeous little balcony. Only downfall was the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything

Didn't have breakfast as there are lots of cafe's around - its pretty much all very French (croissants etc) so don't expect many places to offer bacon and eggs and big breakfasts

Overall was a great hotel and would definitely stay here again when we come back

Make sure to do tours to visit the surrounding areas - especially St Paul which is an amazing little medieval village up in the mountains on the way to Cannes.

Stayed here for 5 nights, at the end of March. The hotel is good, very central, easy to find and the ground floor room we had was very quiet as the hotel sits back from the road and has double glazed windows plus shutters. Good Wifi connection. The staff were all pleasant. The only downside was the breakfast room is very small and full of tables and chairs making it very difficult to sit down and get up for another graze at the food or get a coffee, without having to disturb other diners. We were on an very reasonable inclusive deal or we would have cancelled breakfast and eaten in one of the many cafes close by.
If the management could address this issue we would probably think about using the hotel again.

Stayed for five nights and enjoyed our stay . Large old house back off the main road with small car park at front . Desk staff were always polite and helpful . First impression was good but the carpets had seen better days and our room was small as was the bathroom . The hair dryer was good and there was loads of hot water our room was on the third floor at the front of the hotel and we could hear the buses running past the hotel from approx six in the morning so room at the back would be quieter. The breakfast was the usual continental but was surprised to see we had scrambled eggs sausage and bacon which was a nice surprise. The Hotel was fine and central only five to ten minutes walk from the centre and old town. Free use of Hotels computer + free wi fi also an added bonus . Overal we would go back to this hotel and nice is lovely. One minus local dog owners shoul pick up their dogs mess as we noticed it all over .

Just back fron a four night stay in this hotel, the location is great, in the middle of shops and close to old town. Isabelle on recepetion is very nice and gave us a warm welcome. The room we had was split level and a bit warm upstairs, there was air con but not very good. We had a bathroom upstairs and one downstairs, they were very modern and new but showers were small.
the breakfast room got very crowded and warm but there were also a few tables in reception. We
found this a nice 3star hotel with lots of character and a good price for staying in the middle of Nice.

We found this hotel perfect four our travel experience in Nice area (Monaco to St Tropez). The rooms were clean despite the old design inside. Not too much old ... but close. First we`ve got a triple room with the double bed up on the first floor, just like in an apartment at a 5 star hotel but we`ve changed that in the morning with no problems at the reception at all. We`ve stayed in the hotel only at night because in the day we`ve traveled a lot so the area at night it`s safe. Unfortunately you don`t have a nonstop supermarket around so it`s better to shop what you need during the day.

The breakfast is a little poor (scrambled eggs with some meat, French bakery, coffee, gems, cereals, and not much in rest ... so if you have so morning desires you should be prepared to find them else were. The stuff is polite and willing to help you with your problems. The lobby area is quite small but there is a room quite nice just across the elevator with a big screen TV. Outside is a pleasant balcony were you cand enjoy o beer or a morning coffe just near the city pleasant noise. The first floor is just like the reception area ... the upper levels are typically hotels so you can say good bay to the French atmosphere. But the room doors at the first level as well as the reception level ... are not noise proof. So at night you might be disturbed by a noisy hall neighbor.

Over all we found this 3 star hotel to actually be a 4 star standard hotel. If it wasn`t for the small rooms this would have been a 4 star hotel easily. The parking is a little messy because there is no room to park too much cars so be advise that you`ll have to leave your car key at the reception during the night and day if you don`t leave. If you`ll come with the car at this hotel you should be prepared to have some extra money. 15 euro per night it`s quite expensive. During the day I think it`s extra … so.

Room Tip: If you love the French atmosphere ask for the reception level rooms or the first floor. The upper on...

Myself and my Wife stayed here for 2 nights in March 2013 having booked a city break with Easyjet.

The location in Nice is utterly superb. Only a 10 minute walk from either the sea front or the restaurants of the Old Town. The area is safe and near the shopping district of Nice.

Our room though slightly small was clean and well maintained. We had a small balcony to use to take in the sights and sounds of the South of France. The en suite was well equipped with everything you would require for a short stay.

Breakfast is more continental than cooked. There was a selection of sausages, bacon and eggs but the French, quite rightly, don't cook it like the English do. My best advice is eat for breakfast what the French eat and enjoy it. You will.

We arrived at the hotel very early for check in but the hotel staff were more than happy to look after our bags. This was also the case on our last day when we were leaving much later than check out time. It is no trouble for them to help where and when needed to ensure your stay is comfortable.

The staff were without doubt very helpful and polite. We do try and speak a little French but their English was better than ours. Their knowledge of the local area was a great help giving advice on where to eat and visit and clearly marking these on a complimentary map. They advised us on which bus routes and numbers to catch in order to take in the sights of Monaco and the wonderful village of Eze. With a charge of only 1 Euro per person per journey the local bus service is fantastic.

I would without doubt stay here again if I was to visit Nice in the future. There are of course better places with much bigger rooms but you would require a bigger bank balance to enjoy these establishments. The Hotel Vendome is great value for money with a friendly family service ensuring your stay is relaxed and informed. You will not go wrong staying here.

Thoroughly recommend The Hotel Vendome.
