Close to the center of town and right on the Promenade Anglais. It is particularly helpful to be close to mass transportation in NIce where taxis are harder to find than at rush hour in a rainstorm in NYC. The Cours Saleya is immediately behind the hotel. Lots to see close by. The bus to Cannes is only 1 euro.

This is a small boutique hotel with only 49 rooms. Very well located, just right off the Opera where a lot happens at night. The hotel bar is open 24/24. Rooms are small but very well equipped and richly decorated. The true benefit of this hotel is the friendship of the people at reception. Always helpfull and looking how to help you. The breakfast could be improved though it remains very much acceptable.

If you are looking for a hotel that enables you to get the most out of every second of a short stay in Nice, this is the one. Centrally located next to the opera house, just a minute’s walk away from the beach, flower market, restaurants and cafes, bus stops a 10 minute stroll away, and the train station a 20 minute dash away, this hotel is well placed for exploring near or afar.

I selected it because the advertising on Booking.com indicated that superior rooms included views of the sea (on request). Three months early, I booked a superior room and requested a sea view. I also made a further email request for a sea view a week before I travelled. This time, the hotel responded immediately with a thoroughly charming, if skilful explanation that sea views cost more than “superior rooms” and unfortunately none were available for me to upgrade to. Whilst this annoyed me briefly, it was so beautifully handled by email, and again in person on arrival, that I got over it and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

I had a corner room at the rear of the hotel. One of the side windows offered a partial view of the sea (if you have full mobility of your toes and neck)! But to be honest the street scene from the other window was a delight and far more interesting for people watching. I was delighted to find tea and coffee facilities in the room, a much appreciated treat for this tea drinking Brit! There was one English channel on the large flat screen TV (BBC world news).

The reception staff were all great: warm, friendly, and helpful. Every encounter was positive, not least because their excellent language skills meant I didn’t have to challenge Anglo French relationships with my rusty school French. My superior room was a good size, well equipped and clean. I can understand why some reviews question the 4 star rating of the hotel simply because its size means it cannot offer the facilities of a large hotel. However the location, service, cleanliness, charm and overall experience made it 4 stars for me.

I’m not sure why some reviews suggest it is a business hotel rather than a romantic hotel. Room 7 could be either. The rooms are sound proofed so despite the hotel being full, I didn’t hear any of the other guests, and any low level sound from the street was a bonus as it set the atmosphere. There are additional electric metal shutters at the windows, although I had a play, I didn’t need to use them for heat or sound purposes in May 2013.

The Mercure Nice Marche Aux Fleurs is not a cheap hotel, its location comes at a premium and I decided to pay extra for a superior room. So would I return? For a stress free, perfect location base? Absolutely - when I’ve saved up again!

Great little quiet hotel right in the thick of it in Nice. A couple of hundred yards and easy suitcase pull from the underground car park (Saleya approx 27GBP for 24 hours) in the old town flower market (thank you TomTom). It is quite small and easily missed amongst the much larger buildings. Ideal base for visiting the town and avoiding the often congested coast roads. The old town with all its character and restaurants etc is only a couple of minutes away, and the (pebble) beach is even closer, just across the road. Room seemed recently decorated with air conditioning and modern flat screen TV with HDMI input if required.

This hotel is very well placed for both the beach and the old town of Nice. It occupies two stories of a larger property with the breakfast room below at street level. Our room was on the lower floor overlooking the small alley that runs down the right hand side of the hotel (looking in from the sea). If you want total quiet ask for a room overlooking the 'cour' but in fact we were not bothered apart from random shouts in the night since the alley is closed to cars/scooters and is not the main way to the beach. We turned the airconditioning off and had the windows open which might make the security conscious a little nervous but we were OK behind the electric blinds covering the long windows. We stayed for a couple of nights at the beginning of May and the weather was good enough for us to leap briefly into the sea. You can get a towel from the hotel for 3euros and head across the dual carriageway and be in the water in 2 minutes - ideal for for that quick dip first thing. Nice beach is stoney and hard on the feet so waterproof shoes are a good idea. The station is about 25 minutes walk away if you do not have big bags and the tram stop about 10 minutes through the old town. Steep steps up from the pavement level to reception make a bit of struggle for the less agile and more heavily laden. Staff very helpful and let us see a couple of rooms before we chose. We paid 333.28e for two nights and one breakfast for a Privilege room complete with fluffy white bathrobes etc.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the inner courtyard.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for a city break in Nice. We were welcomed by an extremely pleasant receptionist who showed us 3 different rooms to choose from. Two of the rooms were mezzanine with very little floor space but the one we chose was a normal type, not very large but we only needed it for sleep and shower. The bathroom was a good size with bath and shower over. The beds were very comfortable, twins but pushed together. We even had a balcony but that looked out onto a building site. However this was a bonus as there was no work going on while we were there and it was a very quiet side of the hotel. We did not get any traffic noise which you would if you had a sea view room nor did we get any noise from other guests. There was free wifi throughout the hotel which seemed to work well.
The hotel is in an excellent position. Just across the road is the beach (very stony, take something to sit on or you will get a chalky bum!). The street behind leads to the flower market and the old town with loads of restaurants and cafes. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as we preferred to sit at a cafe and people watch in the sunshine.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for couples but it may not be a good choice for families or those requiring more space and public areas.

As if it wasn't enough its perfect location: at the beach front (right at the best point of the Angels' Bay boardwalk) and just a few steps to the lively night and day street scene of Cours Saleya and its emblematic "marché", with many restaurants options as well, this hotel exceeded our expectations in other important aspects such as cleanliness, comfort, price (not that cheap, but for what it is, it sounds a good value for money) and staff's quality.

Prior to my booking a few months ago, I've read here some negative reviews regarding the size of some basic rooms, so we decided to invest a bit more in order to garantee a perfect stay. And it was really a very good choice; our room was just slightly more expensive than the cheaper one, but we did not regret about our comfortable days above its charming mezzanino.

The absence of an elevator didn't damage our experience, though I understand it can an issue for elderly. In such cases, a special request for a 1st floor room may minimize the problem (that is just a tip), since there are no more than 12 to 15 steps to that ground.

We also didn't try the complimentary breakfast available, because we'd rather taste different places... but I confess we didn't feel so "motivated" to take a seat at the very simple underground room available for that meal.

To all the staff, with no exceptions (mainly front-desk girls, young blond boy and managers), I have no more words to express how special you were along all these unforgettable 5 days, being always friendly, helpful and very efficient.

I have no doubt and I can say we had most of our experience in your city, enhanced by your attention.

Thank you so much!
