Mercure Nice Marche aux Fleurs
Ranked #56 of 203 Hotels in Nice
Reviewed November 20, 2012

If you are looking for the perfect hotel to stay in Nice on a short visit without a car and on a moderate budget, this is the place. It is ideally located to the Vieille ville, the Marche aux fleurs and the Promenade des Anglais. Our standard room was very clean and had a balcony facing the back street. We actually used it as an outdoor fridge for our little dog's food since the ouside temperature was pretty cold.
You can have your breakfast delivered to your room at no extra charge (classic breakfast as opposed to a more varied and hot breakfast if you go down to the eating area with eggs, ham, etc...) until noon! We travel a lot and we have never seen such service which can be very useful for travelers still struggling with jet lag.The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We bought fresh products (saucisson, olives, cheese...) along with olive bread or rustic bread at the market for lunch.
If you decide to dine at one of the numerous restaurant located on the Cours Solaya, make sure to check your bill for additions you did not order. I am a native French speaker and the only time I did not speak French to order our meals, the restaurant staff tried to sell us a more expensive wine, or menu and even added 2 coffees we never ordered.
Overall, this is a great place that we highly recommend.

Room Tip: Request a room on the ground floor if you plan to have a lot of luggages since there is no elevator.

Just returned from a five night break at this lovely hotel. The location is perfect right on the sea front within the old town area and minutes away from the restaurants and bars. The bus from the airport (98) stops about 100 M from the hotel (4 Euros) and on arrival we were dealt with efficiently and promptly. The hotel is on two floors and is small and friendly.
Our room was small and comfortable it had a balcony and bathroom was spacious and clean.
The superior rooms had balconies facing the sea, were a little larger and looked well worth the extra money.
The reception staff were always helpful and pleasant and spoke good English.
The hotel does have a small bar area but choice is limited and quite expensive. There is an option to have breakfast in the morning but we felt the price was expensive at 15 Euros, so decided to use one of the local bakeries around the corner.
We generally slept well but being so close to the front you will inevitably get some extra noise.
There are many good restaurants ( I would recomend going for the set menus 15 - 18 Euros as the offer a good choice and value for money ) and bars within minutes of the hotel and the shops and main square are about 5 minutes away on foot.
This hotel offers good value for money and location to explore the charms of Nice.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money for the superior rooms at the front.

We stayed here for a week during the summer. The hotel is perfectly located on the water front and a minutes walk from the Marche Aux Fluers and its bars and restaurants and lively evening atmosphere. So in terms of location, its very good.

The rooms are small, basic and fairly dated. We had a side balcony overlooking the kitchen vents and a roof area that was a pigeon mecca. The bathroom was poorly ventilated so that its basically damp until its cleaned. The aircon is a bit hit and miss and general had random bursts of cold. Generally the hotel could do with refurbishing. The rooms were always well cleaned however.

It's not a bad hotel and the staff were great and couldn't have been more helpful. However, its certainly very overpriced for what it is, though the location does somewhat make up for that.

Loved the location, clean hotel, comfortable beds, nice staff. Had everything we needed. Would stay here again! The hotel is located right across from the beach, which was perfect. The hotel is also located just in front of the Flower Market in Old Town, which is a really charming part of town.

Room Tip: I wouldn't pay for the sea view.... it was expensive and honestly, the beach is just across the...

Four couples from Scotland stayed here for 2 nights in October 2012 and had a great time. The rooms were simple, but lovely, none of us had great views, we all had balconies, but overlooking the back of buildings, which was really ok, as none of us spent time in our rooms other than sleeping. One of the men is over 6 ft tall and had to ask to swap rooms as the dormer in the bathroom was far too low, but the staff were very happy to move them. The location of the hotel is directly opposite the Promenade des Anglais which is the perfect location for your perfect holiday. All of us would definately stay here if we were to come back to Nice.

Room Tip: This hotel has small simple clean rooms, so if its 5* luxury you're looking for its not here. B...

We just spent a week at this hotel and enjoyed our stay very much. The location is excellent -- just a few blocks to the flower market as well as many shops and restuarants. The room was small and simple but very comfortable and pleasant. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. We were very, very pleased with our decision to stay at Mercure Nice aux Fleurs!
