“Rude, noisy - never again.”
Reviewed July 6, 2011

We stayed here for three nights. We had booked a triple room, comprising of a double and single bed. We arrived and they gave us a room with 3 single beds. The french staff were stereotypically rude and unhelpful... the type of staff you sometime encounter in Frrance that have a problem/grudge against the "anglo-saxon" world i.e. english speakers. Anyhow we took the room. What a mistake. The room number was 202. On the second flood and on the street side (not the garden side). The interior of the room was fine. No complaints there. Unfortunately this room has single glazing and every street sound can be heard. And believe me the location of this room meant there were a lot of street sounds. Every 5 minutes you could clearly hear the tram bell ringing as it passed through the lights on the intersection on which the hotel is located. There is a busy motorbike parking lockup directly opposite. But worst of all was the fact the room was located directly above the loading bay of the hotel. The bins were collected every night between 12.30am and 3.30am!! So don't plan on being asleep then. Oh yeah and the next thing that woke you up (if you were lucky enough to get asleep) was the linen delivery/collection at about 5.30/6.00am. After the 2nd night we had to have a showdown with the staff to get them to change our room. They seemed well rehearsed in their attempts to deny us a room change, but capitulated eventually after much heated debate... we were put in a garden suite. Which had double glazing (this would have made more sense on the noisy side surely??) I would never go back. The location is mediocre and the staff rude and unhelpful and I have stayed in better, cheaper, hotels in the Nice area. Never again. Breakfast was good though. Never again.

Spent 1 week here on a bed & breakfast basis. We were allocated a "double room" with garden view [room 727]; it was not suitable for 2 people - too small; only 1 single wardrobe - more like a single room to suit someone staying for just 1 night. Changed to a twin room with street view [room 416] - what a difference! We were happy with this room.
Breakfast was just OK - very limited selection of fresh fruit - not good enough for
Provence and certainly not what one would expect in a 4* hotel - similarly with the hot dishes on offer.
Rooftop pool and solarium: good with great views over Nice. Unfortunately, the pool was closed for 3 days during our week there.
Lovely garden area on 2nd floor - though few people used it!
Overall, the hotel is probably rated 4* due to the pool & garden but, otherwise, we would rate it 3*.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 725,727 and 716; 625,627 and 616 .

This is a very pleasant hotel in a good location if you plan to travel by rail (Antibes, Villefranche, Cannes and Monaco all within reach).

Our room was clean, however, the bathroomm left a lot to be desired, the floor was poor and in need of renewal, there was a huge crack in the basin and several of the tiles were broken. The hotel has a small swimming pool, bar and terrace on the roof. One tip - stick to wine and beer as the spirits were expensiive.

Breakfast was good and the restaurants in Nice were very good (I must give a mention to the Snug and Cellar on Rue Droit which was very good).

Quick walk from the train station. Checked in at 11pm. No problems. Nice room overlooking the garden. Comfy bed and pillows! Pool! Good food. Good price. Wifi was free. Bathroom large but outdated. Would stay there again.

Had a comfortable stay. Everything that was part of the deal was there without having to be asked for. Liked the garden and pool though didn't get a chance to use. Although a way from the sea it made it easier to explore other sights such as the Russian Cathedral. Felt comfortable as a solo traveller. Good choices for breakfast and attentive staff.
