“Great location, nice clean rooms”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

We just stayed one night before flying home, so we needed an affordable place within walking distance of the old part of Nice and good restaurants, so this hotel was a good choice. I would compare it to an older Hampton Inn in the states or something like that. This is not fancy, but it is clean and cheap for Nice, so what can you really ask for? The view from the room was very picturesque with palm trees swaying in the breeze.

Our dream of attending the Monaco Grand Prix came to fruition last summer and as part of our package through Fugare1, a hospitality company that specializes in Formula 1 races, we chose the Hotel Villa Victoria. This is a charming hotel with comfortable, clean rooms....it wasn't fancy, more of a classic European hotel and met our needs. It is in a handy location and we walked to most of the touristy things that we were interested in and the promenade. We had a nice room overlooking the courtyard which was quiet and pretty to look out to. A nice spot to enjoy breakfast or some downtime. There was a generous breakfast that we observed, but we chose to start the day off light and made good use of the small fridge in the room (we were catered to lavishly by Fugare for our race activities!). We had no problem with the internet that was provided and found everyone friendly and helpful. They still used keys which is a little old fashioned and didn't ask for ID which we found a little off putting (they actually gave us the wrong keys once) but still quite common, I'm sure in Europe.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the garden courtyard view!

Had a nice 3 night stay between 29dec-1jan , this was our 2:nd stay here at Villa Victoria.

The hotel standard in France is very poor as many of you already know, so here are our review!

Rooms are refurbished as you can read on the homepage,, the truth is that there are some white paint on the walls and bathrooms are old,, nothing else are new!

We could recommend this hotel if the price was cheaper, but not now,, we payed 158 Euro per night inc breakfast and taxes. We have been to Nice many many times and stayed at even 2-3 star hotels, with much better service , rooms and location and MUCH better price..

So dont get fooled by this so called 4 star hotel, avoid it !!!!

Location is good, breakfast is very good ( cold breakfast) bread, salami, ham etc.. but standard overall is so poor.

We had a room with streetview as we requested. And there is alot of noice from street ( Soundproofed windows dont exist here) but its no problem for us,, but dont pay extra for garden view,, its a small garden with alot of trees and flowers, and you have that allover in Nice for free, problably you are out in town during day time,, and in evening when you want to relax and see the garden its to dark,,they dont have any lights out theer so you dont see anything.

Staff are nice as they are almost everywhere, nothing special.

Now we had complained alot, but the hotel is nice anyway,, but so overpriced, so choose any other hotel with a lower star rating and better rooms, service,, and have so much money to use on something else.

If the price is going down we come back, otherwise there are so much more better hotels!!

Room Tip: Streetview better price than overpriced gardenview.

We had a two night stay in Nice to celebrate two big birthdays. The hotel was very close to the revues we saw in Tripadvisor, Reception area was tidy and the garden lovely to sit even in November.
Made friends with Victoria the cat.
Middle floor was closed for refurbishment but did not affect us,
Breakfast was good and varied (for France). Coffee was exceptional and you could have as much as you liked (I think).
Very well situated for all parts of Nice.

Room Tip: Garden rooms best. 1st floor refurbished second floor closed, 3rd floor bit tired.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Villa Victoria for 5 nights. The staff were friendly and accomodating. We stayed in a Garden View room which included a large bath tub. Rooms were standard European size, small compared to US standards but clean. Interior could use a slight refresh but we aren't there to stay in the room for an extended period. Beds were adequate but nothing special. TV had the standard selection of English speaking news stations (BBC World News, CNBC, Bloomberg, CCTV). Because we had the Garden View, we found the hotel to be very quiet, even with the windows open. You can walk to Rue Massena, a street with lots of restaurants and shopping, in 5 minutes. It takes about 15-20 to get to the Old Town. One of the main reasons we chose the hotel was its proximity to the train station, however, we only used it once while we were there. The bus system in Nice is great for going to places like Eze and Monaco because it only cost 1 euro (we walked to Garibaldi Square to catch the bus to both-about a 15 minute walk). I would suggest taking the train if you are going to Cannes or Antibes. There is also a bus stop at Rue de Congres and Promenade des Anglais. You can catch this bus stop to go to/from the airport which is much cheaper than a cab (we couldn't find a direct train to/from the airport). We felt pretty safe walking at night back to the hotel although some of the streets were pretty empty. The neighborhood seemed to be a nice area.

We found the breakfast to be what you expect in Europe (which far exceeds US continental breakfasts) but very good selection of fruit, cheeses, meats, toast/croissants, yogurt, juice, cereal and a coffee/expresso machine. We found it very filling and a great way to start the day.

Internet acces was free and signal was OK. We kept having to sign in every time we left or didn't use it for a while which got frustrating. There is a computer but no printer available in the common area to print boarding passes or tickets but the staff were really nice and let us use theirs.

Overall, we were happy with our stay and would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Request a Garden View room.

Having just flown in from a SPG Luxury Collection Hotel, we didn't know what to expect. It's been years since we'd been to Nice and were visiting family so location was important. We had read the reviews and didn't know what to expect so here goes. We had a garden view room - if you want quiet, book one. City view means overlooking the road. The room was perfectly adequate, air conditioned and light. The bed, a bit small but just big enough for those used to a king double - more importantly it was comfortable. The room safe a little small for an ipad and SLR. Clean and well located within walking distance of most things. Breakfasts were a little simple but adequate. Coffee was nescafe style, The walls between rooms a bit thin so you need considerate neighbours. We spent 4 nights without a problem. The highlight was the friendly and helpful staff and good value room. Highly recommended.

I was spending a few days in Nice on my own before the start of a business trip in Monaco, so was looking for a reasonably priced hotel, with good reviews, good location, reasonably priced. This hotel was perfect for that. The room was very tiny, but other than that, everything else was perfect. Friendly staff, about 7 min walk to the main beach area, perhaps 15 min to old town Nice, very clean room, good daily cleaning, comfortable bed, good shower and even a towel drying rack in the bathroom. Did not eat the breakfast as it was pricey and I was just as content to grab a fantastic pastry at the boulangerie a few blocks away. About 10 min walk to public bus stations where you can get to St. Paul De Vence...nice day trip, about 45 min bus ride.
