This hotel was the first of 3 we visited on our trip to France and Spain (West End in Nice, Chateau Eza in Eze, then Hotel de las Letras in Madrid).

Hotel West End was our least favorite, in spite of it being the first stop on our trip and when we were most excited. The hotel is fine. it's not bad, but I wouldn't book here again. Before we left, I upgraded to ensure we had a sea view, but the balcony was so small it would only fit one person. Not what I had in mind, not what I paid extra for. The room was small, which is fine, but upon entering the room we saw a coffee table propped on its side, missing the 4th leg. I will say that at least the doors to the balcony are double glassed, and block the noise from the Promenade Des Anglais.

The bathroom - the shower had absolutely no curtain. Every time we showered it looked like the lower deck of the Titanic in the bathroom. Not pleasant, but not a deal breaker.

The day passes to Blue Beach were available, and although 18 Euros, at least this was seamless and very enjoyable. The hotel didn't have any charisma. It wasn't that anything was "wrong" per se, it just felt kind of flat.

I have yet to see if we have been double charged - I read a review before we left for our vacation which stated that the hotel charged the guest twice. I hope that isn't our case as well.

Superior Sea View was what we paid for. For the cost, I didn't feel it was worth it. Perhaps on higher floors there are rooms that feel more luxurious. (we were on the 4th floor) It's not bad, not great, it was average. But we were hoping for above average, and for the price, I was disappointed with what we received.

Very close to Negresco it's a very good location if you appreciate the views and if you want to be near Promenade des Anglais. Front of the hotel is a private beach, with a nice restaurant where they serve the best Nicoise Salat that I ever eat.:) The rooms are clean, the furniture is old, classic but classy. Our room had a balcony overlooking the sea.
Close to the hotel, less than 50 m, you can find a private parking - if you decide to rent a car to enjoy Cote d'Azure. :)

Room Tip: rooms with sea view deserve all the money payed.

THe staff was great...the first room we received was great on size but the smell of something dead was not...so we gave it a little time for air to circulate and returned 3 hours later to see water running out of the ceiling. get a new room with a bad a/c and that was it for 5 days....the wait for a room was a mile long...the location was good....

Room Tip: front rooms facing the water are best views

Thank you for taking a few moment of your time to write a review about your stay at the West End.

We are very sorry about the inconvenience due to the air conditioner misfunction.
It has been replaced immediatly and despite the delay to move you to another room, we do apologise for every minute of your time spent on it.
Anyhow it is a pleasure to read how you appreciate the staff and the service.

We spent 3 nights here. Fabulous location on the (rocky) beach and right next to the major shopping areas. We had a large room with balcony overlooking the sea--quite nice. The oldest hotel in Nice (they explained), it has problems. The second night, water poured from the ceiling into the bathroom, flooding everything at 11 p.m. We reported it and were assured to mechanic was repairing a pipe. At 1 a.m. I went down and helped security move buckets around the lobby, where the flood was destroying carpets. At about 2, the engineer actually did arrive. At about 3, water stopped leaking from the light fixtures, but the appliances had to be cleaned of yellow, smelling water. This might happen anywhere, but--the next day we were moved into a tiny room so we wouldn't worry about water any more. No. We insisted that we be moved a second time for our last night. When we talked with management, they insisted they could not offer even a discount for the lost night and subsequent moves. At the price we paid, we should have had some compensation. Interestingly, the guest in line in front of us had a melt-down because the restaurant had overcharged him 50 euros, he wanted the money returned, and management refused--said they had no money in the hotel and he'd have to be sent the money somehow. The couple behind us at checkout were also upset about some money issues. Thus the mixed review...

Room Tip: Rooms over the restaurant have solid windows so not noisy--and you can see the ocean.

Stayed for 2 nights 18-20 July. Booked two rooms - Classique and Superieur. Located on second floor at the west back end of building. As we are a family with 3 children, we were happy to see the hotel had placed the rooms close to each other as requested. The Superieur room was perfect for 3, as there was a separate room with a single bed in addition to the double bed. The Classique room had a broken leg on the bed, which the hotel was unable to repair. However, as the room was upgraded to a corner junior suite with sea view, there was no need to complain - very well received!

We did not have breakfast at the hotel, nor booked the beach, but the room and general attitude of personnel was found great at the price paid. (Booked 4 months in advance at Booking.com). Above all, this is a great hotel for exploring Nice on foot, with short walking distance to everything. We also used the public parking which was located 1 minute by foot from the hotel.

Would recommend this hotel for everyone who is looking for a nice hotel in Nice on the Promenade, located just next to Necresco. Yes, the hotel needs renovation, but if you overlook the wear and tear, it offers the pleasure of a great looking building and perfect location.

Room Tip: Very nice rooms at the back, west end, overlooking the quiet park.

We've stayed 3 nights there. It's nicely located and if you get quiet rooms with view on the mountain, it was noise-free and comfortable. Stayed at the 6th floor. Elevator didn't work. Even though our room was in the new section, from walking the stairs, I could say that the hotel needs serious renovation. They didn't have queen bed so it was 2 single beds, side by side. We were careful to not to fall in the crack!! The staff is rude.
