One of the best located hotels in Nice. Also has a Macdonalds underneath so that's a bonus for all of the cheapskates (like me!!!). Rooms were nice and modern, but were rather small, which I think is normal here in Nice. Nice buffet breakfast overlooking the ocean and also a cool rooftop pool and terrace. For some reason the pool didn't open until 10.00am and then closed at 5pm so I didn't have the time to use it. Come on guys, 8.00am until 8.00pm would make your valued clients much happier I'm sure. Overall a good choice though.

We stayed for 2 nights in April and had a great time staying at this excellently located hotel. From check in to check out the service was excellent. Make sure you visit the rooftop bar for a fantastic view of the bay. The location was great, with shops, restuarants and bars a short walk away as is the old town. Visit the flower market, also Ville Franche is a short train ride away

First of all the two big postives, which are important.
The location of this hotel is perfect. Dead Central, on the seafront, and if you pay for the sea facing rooms, then the views are wonderful. Ignore any worries about the Fast Food joint under the hotel, or noise from the street, when you are staring out over the Med, this will not bother you. Also, as you are at the end of the Promenade, you are two minutes from the old Town and shopping areas

Secondly, the room that we had was very nice. Modern decor, huge comfortable bed. It was absolutely fine.

Now, the reason I only give it two stars.

THe public areas of the hotel are awful. Whether it was the smell of stale food from the restaurant, the feying oil smell in the lifts, or the chemical cleaner smell in corridors, it was pretty poor for such a potentially nice hotel. Also, the decor was old and tired and made the hotel seem dark.

But what got em down to two stars was the attitude of a couple of the reception staff, who I feel downright lied to me over a couple of small items. It just makes you feel uncomfortable in a hotel

No doubt the 'cut and paste' reply will mention training and soft refurbs, but I am sorry, this hotel does not live up to what I expect from Le Meridien

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view.

Dear Guest from the UK,
So glad that you enjoyed our ideal location and also your sea facing room.
However, we are very surprised about the odours you experienced during your stay, not only as we hire a highly skilled cleaning team giving the quality cleaning services expected but also the guest service desk did not receive any complaints.
We regret that the decor was not to your liking and that the staff didn’t give you the attention you deserved.
We sincerely hope that you will not judge us on this particular experience and hope that you will give us another chance.
Best regards

A very pleasant hotel in the most fantastic position overlooking the sea. Made use of the rooftop bar, really pleasant. Small pool fenced off didn't feel quite like the leisure facility I expected. Watch out for the coffee voucher in your room. Quite pleasant in the hotel bar . Much , much more I interesting is the fact that the bar is above McDonald's. you can access their free wifi easily in the hotel bar, instead of paying €9 a day for the hotel Internet access.

Pool is opening at 10 am, but many guests nowadays want a swim in the morning before breakfast. Latest 8 am should be a proper opening time.
Rooftop pool is the main reason why we choose Meridien, but where is the style ? it is high time to renew the pool, keep it tidy, a lot of cracked tiles, and also clean the pool.
The management should take an inspection tour, there are more than enough employees to keep it clean and tidy.
Breakfast still nice, but had a better a selection last October.
Reception desk was more service minded and more smiling this time.
The rooms with a large terrace is very nice and pleasant even with town view.
The rooftop bar is a nice place but it seems that they can't make mojito, it did taste terrible bitter and they used old, dry lime cuts. We had to ask for a new, and remind them that it should contain sugar.

If they start open the pool 8 am in the morning and keep it clean and tidy, we will come back

Dear genious44

Thank you for having chosen to stay at Le Méridien Nice.
You stayed in one of our classic rooms overlooking the internal courtyard. These rooms are especially appreciated for their tranquillity and have recently undergone a soft refurbishment.
We are sorry that the room was not to your liking and that the hotel didn’t meet your expectations on certain levels
We do apologize that a member of staff was not helpful and didn’t give you the attention you deserved. This certainly does not reflect the usual quality of our service.
However, we hope you will give us the opportunity to offer you another experience and suggest that you may like to try one of our seaview rooms on an upper floor next time.
Should you travels bring you back to Nice, we would be most happy to welcome you back. Please do let us know about your plans and the Guest Experience Team will be delighted to assist.
Best regards

Can't complain because I had a wonderful stay here. To be honest I was hesistant at first due to all the negative yelp reviews but I figured I'd give it a try anyways.

I'm a SPG gold member and got upgraded automatically at check-in to an ocean view room for both the rooms I booked. Complementary wifi and Evian is another plus. Both my rooms were clean, spacious and modern. Didn't seem to have the same issues as other yelp reviewers, maybe they fixed everything the other guests complained about on yelp? The pool is small, but if you're in Nice and by the ocean why would you even want to swim in a pool?

Service during check-in, bell boy service and conceirge were professional and helpful.

The rooftop has an amazing view. Definitely recommend to have drinks/snacks up there in the lounge portion during the day time and even to see the sunset.

The hotel has a great location, right next to the beach & Old Town. The only problem is if you prefer soft sand beaches you should look to book a room in Cannes as all the beaches in Nice are pebble beaches.
