Hipark Design Suites Nice

Very trandy hotel a bit outside the touristic part of the city. To be specific it is not a hotel but a 'residence hoteliere' which means that the room is cleaned every 2 days.
I do no recommend this place. You can find less pretentious and a lot better in Nice.
Our own experience was very bad. We slept on a noisy convertible couch!! and the carpet was spotted with multiple stains.

Although it lacks character and charm, the residence is very comfortable and the suite was big enough for the three of us. The kitchen corner is well equipped which is handy if you want to avoid the 15 euro breakfast! A leisurely 15 minute stroll takes you to the old town but there is a tram stop 2 mins away if you don't like walking! Nice Riquier railway station is 5 mins away. We used this to get to Monaco and Cannes. Reception staff were helpful and friendly whether you addressed them in English or French. A minor repair was sorted the same day and their local knowledge is great. Although a late check out wasn't available we got an extra hour without fuss or further payment.
Lots of traffic noise so take ear plugs! That said, we all slept well after long walks each day!

The HiPark has good facilities and is located within quick walking distance of transportation. It is not really close to the water or the promenade. From the airport you can take the Riquier 98 bus and get off at Riquier/Delfino. It is a large building and takes up the block. Lobby is large and has ample seating for those wishing to use Wifi.
There is a McDonalds and a small shopping area across the street. Hotel staff are professional and speak English very well. Free WiFi in the lobby is very fast. Wired access in the room is free and fast. You can get a network cable from the reception desk. The room has a small kitchenette - fridge, 2 burners, pots, pans, dishwasher, and sink. The bed is really a convertible sofa, but it was very comfortable. Good sized balconies. The design in the room is high end. Large wall-mounted LCD in room with selection of multi-language movies on demand for roughly 4 Euro. Everything is modern.

I liked the residential location best. it is few blocks away from the beach, a couple of blocks from the tramway stops and accross from a shopping mall where there is a Carrefour store that sells everything including fresh produce. The hotel is quite nice. the suites are a decent size but not spacious. We were there for 8 nghts and we stayed in a deluxe suite that was really just right for 2 people. The kitchenette is OK ,however we had trouble with the stove which did not work properly half the time and waiting for the "technician" to fix it required major complaining at the desk. The other thing we did not like was the fact that the toilet is not in the bathroom and there is NO SINK in the toilet room to wash your hands after using! that was quite bizarre. Housekeeping is another issue: They do not provide it everyday : the longer you stay , the less housekeeping you get. we were there for 8 night and housekeeping was there only once. I asked for new towels after the second day and they charge per towel. They do have a washer /dryer in a room off the lobby but the room stinks because a big garbage can is stored in there as well.
Overall the hotel is a good bargain and we had a pretty enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: get a Suite for adequate space

My husband nearly had a fit when as a 2m tall guy he had to sleep on a sofa bed.
Location is just ok, nearer the sea would be better.
Rooms - well ous was ok but I believe it was a free upgrade. The bed was rotten, folds up during day- handy but kindof wierd.
Air con was unbelievably loud. Look it ok- don't pay too much for it but it is a fine hotel.

I would love to have given this property a better overall rating, but considering the cost, and the unhelpfulness of the staff, I could only give it an average rating.

On arrival at reception there was no-one there - only a note to say 'back in 5 minutes'. It turned out that the receptionist had been to the loo, so fair enough!

When we got to our room, it was incredibly hot. There was air conditioning, which we immediately put on, but it didn't work very well, and there were no instructions on its use.

I tried to call down to reception, but there was no number on the phone (0 didn't work) and although there was a list of services (more about the list further on), there was no number listed on there for reception.

So, when we left to go out, we mentioned the air con problem to the receptionist. However, the response we got from the guy at reception was "just open the window if it isn't working"!

I was 'flabber-ghasted'!!! Not a good first impression. The whole point of needing the air con was that the air outside was hot, and there was no breeze!!!!

The rooms are modern and functional, with a reasonable amount of hanging space, and loads of shelving space. As we had a suite, there was a king bed as well as a sofa-bed.

We had a balcony, but our suite was on the corner, so it was very small, and did not have a table and chairs - we could see that other rooms did have all of these things.

The kitchenette has a kettle, 2 ring cooker, microwave and a toaster, plus all the crockery and cutlery you would need. The under-sink bin is very small.

There is a very basic bedside cabinet, which has 1 tiny drawer and an open front.

The toilet is not in the bathroom (which can be useful), and has no sink to wash your hands, which means you have to either use the kitchen sink, or walk to the bathroom to wash your hands. Also, the extractor fan did not seem to work (probably should have come on with the light, but didn't).

Beside the phone was a list of services - most of which were to be paid for extra, which includes the cleaning/towel changes.

As many previous reviews have stated, this is not done regularly enough, but having noted that it was done every 2 days, we thought we could live with this.

We booked for 7 nights, so thought that we would get our room cleaned/sheets & towels changed twice during our stay.

However, having arrived on Saturday, I expected to come back to a clean room on Monday; but we did not get our room cleaned until Tuesday. I assumed that there must have been a rota for rooms, and so thought that we would get another clean/towel replace on Thursday, but this was not the case.

On Friday morning (our last full day/night) I enquired at reception about this and they said that as we had only booked 7 nights rather than 8, we were not due another clean!

I asked for more towels (didn't mind so much about the bed linen or the bins being emptied) which the receptionist stated we would have to pay for (80cents each).

I agreed and asked that the towels be replaced while we were out. The receptionist said that we should just ask again on our return that day, but I pointed out that the maid was on our floor, just outside our room in fact, so it would be good if she could request the towels there and then. She said she would and wrote it down.

However, suprise, surprise, no clean/dry towels when we returned. Being our last full day, and having bought some towels so we could sun-bathe on the beach, we didn't bother asking again.

Room Tip: Not sure if the suite is worth the extra £400 we paid to upgrade - think the sofa bed would have bee...

Fiancee and I stayed here September of 2011 for 2 nights towards the end of our trip in France. We chose this place because it was walking distance to Gare de Nice Riquier, and it was away from Nice city center but an easy tram or walk away.

The staffs were fantastic and gave us a free upgrade to the executive double room. The room is larger than expected and the pull out couch bed was comfortable and clean along with a fantastic bathroom. This hotel was also the only hotel we stayed at in France that provided us with an iron and a kitchen along with everything you need to make a meal.

The room was equipped with free wired cat5e internet, it was super fast and reliable compare to many other's wifi. The public area has free wifi which I used from time to time.

We were told the cleaning lady would only be around every other day, since we only stayed here for 2 days, they won't clean our room until we checked out. that wasn't a problem for us at all, we don't trash rooms, nor do we need our room to be cleaned even that often.

The check-in process was different than I expected in France, but same as in the US. You signed a bunch of paperwork and pay upfront. No culture shock there, not sure why people complain about this?

Overall it was a fantastic experience: clean, comfortable, quiet, semi-luxurious, convenient to markets, tourist sights, and public transportations. We will def stay here again when we come back to Nice.

Room Tip: executive double room, defenitily worth it
