Our favorite dinner in Nice was at Alounak, a vegetarian restaurant, although we are not vegans (menu has plenty of meat options, too). But, because of the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided to get some exercise and walked from the Promenade des Anglais to this wonderful place. My husband and I both had the vegetarian special, and all our dishes were excellent, some of the best we've ever tasted, with the finest ingredients. Husband had the eggplant appetizer and tajine vegetables over rice for his entree; and I had the hummus appetizer and ratatouille and potato entree. For dessert we had lovely mint tea to go with the delicious pastries and chef surprise of strawberries with creme topping. The owner was very personable, with great stories and philosophy about life. We also enjoyed the ambiance, decor, and music, making the meal a total immersion experience. Note, for those who don't want to walk, the tram is only a block away.
