We were plesantly suprised with the lobby and room. For the price we paid (45euro), It was great especially since we had a car. The people at the desk were pleasant, especially the man at night. The room was clean, resonably sized-definity not big.
Although we didn't plan it ahead we decided to stay a second night.

Nice is beautiful and we stayed 2 nights at La Maison. There was some confusion with the booking prior to our arrival but this did not cause any dramas. We di not know that the foyer was being renovated at the time of our stay, again not causing any dramas but things that I feel should be mentioned when taking a booking. Staff were fine, breakfast was good and drinks on the balcony were excellent, the view is spectacular. All up a great place to stay, close to other attractions and places to eat.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the sea or front.

i was one of a smallish group (15) - from Australia. the rooms are large but sparse- no air con or fridge - that was not too bad. great view from window overlooking the Mediterranean and port.but that's where the 'great' ends. the hotel is under renovation - floor by floor - starting with 1st floor - i was on 4th floor. room was large - those monks must have been packed in. because the place is old, my room was tatty - very small shower and what looked like very dirty grouting - but just old, i think, not a good look. the food was abominably bad. most in our group left the food which was the evening meal, it was like pulling teeth to persuade the waiters to bring drinks. the staff were generally unhelpful and unfriendly. the piped music was great !

Room Tip: avoid ! i cant recommend anything about the place.

This hotel is in an excellent location near the port with free parking and Wi-Fi. We were able to walk to a few different beaches and several different restaurants. The hotel is a converted seminary so the rooms are very basic. Clean bed, clean towels and a TV... that is about it. We did not eat at the hotel, we walked to the port area for all of our meals.

Pros: Price, Location, Free Parking & WiFi
Cons: No A/C, Small Shower

We had a nice room with sea view, bathroom was renovated and looked very good, room furniture a bit basic but OK, the rug had a few stains but otherwise clean, having no air conditioner might be a problem in hot summer days, but as we stayed in mid-september it was absolutely no problem, when you open the window there is a nice sea breeze. The views from the window were great, especially ours was a high one (anyway, the buildind itself is elevated, the reception is at the level of the 2nd floor, so I guess if you lucky to get a room with a sea view, you would have a good one from anywhere).
Internet connection was good, but the password they give you can be only used on 1 computer (we had 2 laptops and only could use one).
The price was OK for Nice at that time of the year, and there was a big, free and secure parking, which was a big plus for us (they close the gates at night). The position is a little bit off the city centre, but it's close to the old port and it's on the eastern side of the town, so it's close to Monaco (we used our own car to visit, but there are busses, too), and to Corsica ferries. This area of the city is very quiet at night, even with the window opened we slept like babies.
We walked to the city centre almost all the times, but there is a minibus station in front of the hotel and bus stop, too, you just have to check the routes; the timetable we found not reliable. We took the minibus on our last day and the ticket lasts for a few hours, it's the same for city buses, too, so at 1.50 Euros per person I guess we had a few rides. Just don't expect the minibus to come in time - it's more mediterranean style. You can take the minibus from only the stop on the other side of the road and although final destination is Course Saleya, it will take you up the hill first, so you will get an extra tour of the upper eastern side of the city. If you in a hurry, better walk.
They close the hotel gate and doors after 10 PM and you have to use your card to get access, and there will be nobody of the stuff at the reception at that time; we dined late in the city every evening but did not have problems with the access (I've heard some people did, and that's not pleasant as there is nobody to ask for help).
Of course, check-in after 10 PM is out of question.
We had breakfast for an extra charge (7 Euros/ person, not expensive for local standards), I would say it was pretty good, not an extraordinary choice, buffet-style, but everything was fresh and you could definitely feel not hungry for at least half of the day. The boiled eggs they served at breakfast were peeled (impeccably), a bit weird, bur their hygiene was excellent. Breakfast is on the terrace with a great sea view.
Rooms, on the other hand, don't have balconies (the building used to be a seminary).
Didn't try their restaurant, but have seen the menu, not very big, but they used to change it, prices were decent.

All in all, if you don't want to spend a fortune on the hotel, need a parking place (which is a problem in Nice), and don't mind if your hotel is not 5 stars (it's a decent 3*, if it had a minibar in the room it would be even better), this hotel is a good choice and a good value for the money you pay.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a sea view, not sure all the rooms are renovated, so ask about it.

This hotel promised much but fell a bit short. 1st impressions from the outside was that it looked like it had a lot of character and upon entering you were greeted with a bright modern reception area which comes as a bit of a surprise given the exterior. At check in things started to go down hill as it took nearly ten minutes before they could find our booking then we were informed that they did not have a garden view room available for the 1st night due to 'water issues' and that we would be given a sea view room and change the following day after i voiced my displeasure at this we were offered to upgrade to a seaview for the full 3 nights after a further debate the hotel agreed to do for the same cost as a garden view so hats off to them for that at least.
The room was on the top floor and the sea view was magnificent and more than made up for the rest of the room the carpet was well past its sell buy date and the decor was tired and long overdue a freshening up this theme continued into the en-suite which although clean enough just looked grotty and tired, the shower door was just about holding itself together.
Although we did not eat at the hotel the menu was well priced with good choices and the dinning area looked very clean and modern theme from the reception carried though.
To give the hotel the benefit of the doubt there did seem to be a refurbishment program taking place and if the work carried out so far is carried through to the rooms then this will be a top class place to stay.
The location is a bit out from the main hustle an bustle of Nice with a 5-10 minute walk to the marina and a further 10 minute walk to the old town area the upside of this is two fold 1st it means that it is quite at night and secondly if like us you are on a self drive holiday ample secure parking and as we were traveling by motorcycle was a Big plus.
although it has its short comings i feel i could recommend this hotel to others and when the apparent works are completed would have no hesitation in giving it a full 5stars.

Room Tip: seaview rooms higher the room the better view

I stayed here for one night in June. The hotel reception is very modern and rooms are not so modern but they are nice. Rooms are spacious with high ceilings, very clean and comfy. We had a room with a sea view and the view was absolutely amazing. Really nice to wake up to in the morning time. The location is good. Its beside the harbour, so its a bit outside the centre. However, there are lots of bars and restaurants at the port.
The staff were just ok, could have been a bit more approachable. When we arrived we approached the reception and the receptionist asked us to wait while she finished her conversation with her colleague. It wasn't a good first impression. Anyway, the excellent view from our room made up for that :-)

Room Tip: You should definitely pay the extra €'s for a room with a sea view.
