Our high standard for the next evenings was immediately set, after having our delicious first dinner in Nice in this nice restaurant. I've had the 29eur menu with the goat cheese salad as a starter (as big as a main course, and oooooh so delicious), with the duck as main course (breath taking, and oh so tender) and a light but very yummie chocolate mousse as dessert. Chocolate mousse was not one of the dessert options for this menu, but I asked if it was possible and with a smile I got it! One small adjustment to the comments of one of the previous reviewers who stated that a big platter of french fries was served and that they were not happy with the fact the waiter just assumed they wanted this. It is indicated on the menu that you can chose between french fries, cooked potatoes or gratin dauphinois. If you don't say anything, they just assume you want the regular french fries serving. I asked for the "pommes de terre" sidedish, simply delicious, my friend got the indeed very big platter of (homemade) french fries. We also had a nice bottle of wine for only 8eur (first restaurant ever not to overcharge on a bottle of wine :)) . Service was immaculate, the owners are two very nice people, always smiling, making smalltalk... you really feel comfortable in this restaurant. Only "down" side is the ambience in the restaurant that doesn't look very appealing from the outside. The light is quite strong and gives it more of a cantine-look. If they would opt for different lighting the place would look totally different. Also the location is not really good, if we wouldn't have found it through an online blog, we would never have passed by this (shabby) area. Luckily the neigbourhood doesn't reflect on the food and service!! :-) If we are coming back to Nice, this will be for sure an address where we will return to.

Authentic French restaurant - with an Italian influence - and great dishes ! My tartare brought a smile to me and I had to take a picture of it ! This place is very popular with regulars - always a good sign for value and taste ! This is very close to shops on Avenue Jean Medecin and the station. That lunch, it was packed and still we were served quickly without any prompting. I will recommend it to my friends.

We went for the 29 Euro three course meal. Our rating would have been very good had it not been for a few niggles. Firstly the starters were served with burnt pieces of bread but the spiced apple was fab.
The lovely mains (including duck with blackberries and redcurrants) were automatically served with the biggest platter of fries. Just because we're English please don't automatically assume we want chips every time! It would have been far nicer to have been given the option of dauphnoise potatoes, veg or salad. The chocolate mousse was rich and delcious though.
Although our waiter was pleasant enough service wasn't attentive. We spent ages trying to catch someone's eye as we needed some glasses for the water, and again when we wanted the bill. We got so fed up of waiting for this that we ended up going inside to ask for it at the counter.
The restaurant location is next to a boulangerie and takeway so while it when it was open the atmosphere was 'lively' with scooters coming and going and the smell of exhaust fumes wasn't great while eating outside.

Good basic French food is provided by friendly and attentive staff. Clearly a place which locals use but welcoming nevertheless. Very close to railway station and stop on tram service. Quantity of food provided is large. Good inclusive menus at resonable prices. Only a short walk from the main street Avenue Jean Medicine.

Not haut cuisine, but delicious French traditional cooking at a most reasonable price. The 3course meals offer many choices and the portions are enormous. Mostly locals, but welcoming to us Americans. Not worth a trip across town, but great if your hotel is nearby.
