I was disappointed with this tour unfortunately as I had high expectations from all the reviews. However, it was very touristy and didn't take you anywhere you couldn't easily go by foot. We wanted to take a tour by bike so that we could go to different areas further afield and see the real Nice. But they only take you round the old town and along the promenade basically. The old town is very crowded and not suitable for bikes amongst all the people in the narrow streets. They do take you up the hill for the great views, but it was slow as most of the group had to push their bikes up which took ages waiting for them. However, if you can't manage the hill there is a lift that takes you up, so you can easily do this by foot with less effort. It was a good introduction to Nice, but nothing we couldn't have done ourselves much cheaper by simply hiring our own bikes and taking a map and good guide book or app.
The guide was knowledgeable although sounded a bit bored and false with an annoying fake smile. The bikes are really small and not suitable for larger people. I've never seen such small wheels on a bike that made it tricky to use. They are fold-up bikes to carry and put in a cupboard or car boot. There are loads and loads of blue bikes that are normal size with comfortable seats and basket in front for hire around the city ideal for short trips. We also found a great bike hire shop that had much nicer bikes that we could take much further away to see more of the city. I understand that most people don't like going on roads but we are experienced bikers and didn't have any problems than any other city we've been too. So this tour is probably more suitable if you're with your granny and/or inexperienced bikers.
I was surprised that no one else writes more balanced reviews here, but found out why, as they make a big thing about trip advisor and offer a money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied. Although I did consider getting my money back and a free tour, I don't really think this is fair for other trip advisor users. It's a cunning way to not get negative reviews, but if we would have read more honest reviews here then we would have just hired our own bikes from the start and given this tour a miss as it just wasn't for us. It's ok if you don't have much time I suppose and aren't used to riding bikes, but for us, we felt it was like being on a school trip.
