“Food cooked as I like it.”
Reviewed October 5, 2011

In this interesting restaurant you cook the meat , fish etc on a very hot granite slab. The quality of the prawns, salmon, escallops ,beef and chicken was good. The prepared side dishes were enjoyable. We ate outside again ,a bit later at 9.00pm.The restaurant is beautifully decorated.Lorraine thinks it has loveliest toilet she has ever seen.It has art and scented candles. The back street location would be a lot more peaceful and relaxed without the damned motorbikes that are everywhere in Nice.

“Something unusual”

We loved the tables down the small street. Good atmosphere, friendly owner and good service. Fresh fish and meats. Very nice for something romantic.

“New Year's Eve - dining delight”
Reviewed January 1, 2011

I was recommended this restaurant by someone who lives in Nice. It was also good to try a different experience on New Year's Eve. It is situated in the Old Town of Nice - allow yourself a few extra minutes to navigate the sometimes confusing pattern of narrow back streets!
There was a special menu in addition to the normal one, a mixture of sea food (lobster, giant prawns, etc), or a selection of meat - beef, bison & venison.
I chose the meat selection, with a foie gras starter (sorry, when in France......) & cheesecake for dessert. The foie gras had an excellent flavour, with nice accompanying "jams."
Then to the main course - a lovely tray of about 10 pieces of meat, baked potato, sauces for the meats, & 2 dishes of vegetables. It was a novelty cooking on the (very!) hot stone - there were some very minor aspects of meat sticking to the stone (only to be expected really), but this did not stop me cooking the different cuts to my likeness. All the meat was beautifully tender, so my cooking was obviously good!
The dessert was very well made, a nice & moist biscuit base, with a very light topping that was full of flavour.
The level of service was good - I arrived early for eating out on New Year's Eve, so initially was the only diner. However, the restaurant soon filled up, & I couldn't discern any noticeable delays for the other diners (large groups or couples, etc). The service seemed to be attentive & timely.
I had a superb meal, & would happily go there again.

“Just OK”
Reviewed September 21, 2008

While the decor of the restaurant is very nice, the food was just average.
It was also pretty pricey considering that you have to cook your own meat on a ceramic slab that they bring to your table.
I would say that it is just barely one step up from a Melting Pot restaurant.
