“Great example of Nicoise food”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

You must book - on a wet Wednesday night at the end of October they were still turning people away! Not many restaurants in Nice can do that! We had never tried it before even though many people had recommended it to us. The menu is reasonably priced, the portions good but most of all it was done well - so many restaurants offer too large a menu and make a bad job of cooking the food. My husband said he had the best Daube ever (including mine? Grrrr!!!) and the desserts were good. This is one of the few times when the bill has come and we were pleasantly surprised. NB No cards accepted!

“Great food for good value”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

Must book in advance as the first seatings of the night is usually packed. The waitstaff was very friendly and efficient. And the food was very good. Ordered the beef ragu and couldn't finish it because the portion was pretty generous. The stuffed veal was also a good size. Would highly recommend the fish soup if you like seafood. Must be eaten with the rubbed garlic, tapenade and bread. Reasonably priced and good value.

“A venue with a real Nice menu”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

Right in the middle of the Old Town, this restaurant has a great reputation and you would be wise to book to avoid disappointment. The restaurant has been tastetfully enlarged in recent times with a new kitchen. It closes on the busiest times, saturday and Sunday and all august but they do not loose trade as it is full whenever they open and they have a happy and well motivated staff. I had the best Creme Brulee ever.

“Average experience”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

This place got good recommendations so we said we would give it a blast.
Service was good, nice friendly staff but the food wasn't great.
The starter tart was just warm, but the main course was crazy! It was an escalope with ham and cheese covered in a sauce. And it was bloody huge!
What made it difficult to eat was the fact it was very greasy, and the meat in the escalope was hard to ind as it was pounded so thinly. The sides of green bens and chips were gigantic, enough for 4!
Desserts were okay, my creme caramel was a little eggy, and the creme brûlée wasn't very sweet.
The table next to us were very unhappy and chose bot to eat their food..

“Sadly disappointed.”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

This place was recommended by our hotel concierge as being the best of nice cuisine. Our disclaimer was that we wanted a place the locals go, and can be anything from a hole in the wall to a 5 star restaurant as long as the food was delicious. We travel for the foo. This was anything but what we had hoped for and although the staff was friendly, this place was over ridden with tourists and they don't accept credit cards. We ordered the nice appetizer, seafood salad and the smoked tuna carpaccio. All were sad and tired in flavor profile and texture. The seafood salad tasted like the sea, but not the good kind. I expected fresh and full rich favors. Not worth the reservation in my opinion.
