“Lu fran calin for authentic Provencal fare”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

The hotel clerk suggested this, her favorite restaurant. It is on the edge of a beautiful plaza, in idyllic Old Town. Though my French is rusty, the servers were very accomodating without being condescending. I had one of my favorite dishes, expertly prepared - Fish Soup. It came with all of the trimmings: croutons, garlic rouille, and parmesan cheese. The real deal. My wife enjoyed a very light and fluffy gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese sauce. My main course was a mushroom risotto, baked with a layer of cheese. A unique preparation. It was delicious but very dense. We'll be back.

“The locals eat here. You should too!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012 via mobile

We ate here on 27 Sep for dinner. A recommendation by our B&B owner for local cuisine.

For starters, we had the starter sampler platter. So did perhaps everyone else at the restaurant too. It was huge but somehow the 2 of us managed to finish it.Great variety of local Nice delights.

For our mains, we had braised veal and lasagne. The veal was very tender. I found the gravy a bit heavy but overall was good. The lasagne was okay. Both portions were very filling.

We had a bottled of house red. Very reasonably priced and it was their own label too.

Service was friendly, prompt. Overall, a good meal with great service, cheap and good house wine and good value for money food. You have to minimally try the starter platter. That was the best part of my meal there.

“Pretty decent”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

We had the fish soup for starters which was average. For mains, we had the poultry supreme which was delicious. It came in a generous serving and had a nice cream base. We also had the eggplants in parmiggiana, which was quite nice. We were too full for dessert. The service was very good but slow as they only had one poor waitress running around most of the time. Choose this over l'abbaye.

“A must visit in the old town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012 via mobile

We went for lunch on our first day in Nice.It really set the scene for a great weekend. The food was excellent and the waiter helpful to translate the menu. The white wine was excellent. It looked a busy place in the evening as well. It is closed Sunday and Monday nights though.

The square where the restaurant is has a nice atmosphere about it as well.
