“Great location, high expectations, poor execution”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

Beautiful old proprety with move view and amazing garden; location is absolutely great but unfortunately understaffed - so, especially in bar area, struggling to serve few tables present.
Restaurant was, well, average: nothing outstanding nor outrageously bad but then not what you expect from this kind of places. Starters were well below par, with badly cooked scallops and seared foie gras left almost untouched by our guest; main slightly better, even so sea-bass was almost dry; grilled langoustines were very nice.
Short and high priced wine list leaves little room for pairing attempts.
All in, I hope it was a bad day (or maybe chef wasn't there) as it was a very approximative meal...

“"Enchantment" in a plate”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

In th middle of "nowhere", near the golf course in Mougins, is a bright, modern hotel set inside magnifiecnet gardens; with an amazing restaurant that not only make your tastebuds explode, but also is also a true feast for the eye !!
A delicate and original balance of savour & colour. No one "note" outdoes another and every single one blends hamoniusly.
I can only compare the balance of flavours and colours to a wonderful painting.
The staff are great, explaining each dish to perfection.
They are officious, warm and I can honestly say my evening was an experience I would renew anytime; and recommend this restaurant to everyone....it has all the makings of "a grand table"
Although the hotel also has seating for dining in the gardens, on a coldish windy February night, I didn't get the opportunity to enjoy this "extra".

“Gastronomy - able to adapt to vegetarians!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

While in Mougins, we wanted to have a gastronomic restaurant, but eating in French restaurants as a vegetarian is always a little challenging (one of the two of us is). We called to check that the restaurant would accommodate the vegetarian, to which they responded "no problem." What a treat! The chef did a wonderful job making sure we both ate well, the food was delicious, fresh, and original. The dessert was particularly amazing. Service and price was on par with our expectations. Definitively will visit again.

“A step too far”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2012

Firstly, although the restaurant lacks intimacy, and is a little starchy, the staff and the service were excellent.
We were actually staying in the hotel and were looking forward to the dining experience as we had heard great things - not least on trip advisor. When we were presented with the menu, my wife and I thumbed through the offerings and found it difficult to find anything that leapt off the page. Our view was that in a desire to be different, innovative and 'gourmet', the chefs had lost sight of the basic fact that a plate of food is sustenance rather than a work of art. My St Peter's fish was tasty but over complicated and given the price, a somewhat mean offering. My wife had prawn tartare on corn bread which again was anorexic.
We decided to share what sounded like a really interesting dessert of chocolate mousse combined with an Italian cheese salad - I was intrigued as to how this would work and I regret to say it didn't in any way whatsoever. The intense saltiness of the hard cheese neither complemented or formed a counterpoint to the mousse and I can only think that the creator of this dish was momentarily distracted whilst composing the ingredients.
Given the other reviewers comments, it may well be we just had an off night, but any experimental gourmet menu needs also to include some staple favourites.

“Intimate Excellence”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

This place is why people love to eat in France! Our table tried many of the different seafood and meat courses, and the sampler dessert plate was superb. The service was exceptional but not intrusive. The dining room held no more than 30 people yet it felt like no one else was around. The prices were just a bit high, but overall the experience is one I look forward to repeating on my next trip.

TIP - Due to the small size of the restaurant it is often sold out - call ahead!
