“Rather Mediocre Hotel”

Cons: we booked to stay and were aware that this is self serve check-in only to find out that it only charged us for 1 night. We checked in reception later as we have to wait as the person behind the desk only works part ti.e and were told it was fine and we don't need to worry. Upon coming back to our room we could not get in! We found out later that you have to virtually pay daily using the self serve check-in. It says that wi-fi is free but the signal is really poor. The shower head does not work. Beware of leaving your valuables as housekeeping does not close the door properly. Our door was fully opened when we came back at the end of the day.
Pros: It's close to public transport eg. Train station is less than 5 minute walk to the hotel. Parking is not an issue although you may have look for a spot further away sometimes. Room is ok and small but this is what you expect for Etap. It's alodo clean. Air con was working fine.

Room Tip: Request one with a balcony preferably higher up for good view.

I was in Menton a lot of times, the hotel is exellent considering the price very cheap, but the city is costantly degrading. Good service, quite clean, but a little bit out of the best of menton.
You are near Italy and walking distance to city centre, but you will not find a good place for eating if you do not go to the city centre, there are some criminality problems perhaps in the area and you do not have good shops, You can also find the sand in sablettes area, but only if you pay, strange and unique for France.
The hotel is in a teorical excellent position but this position is degrading with the rest of the city, still fine but how long will it last? If you are searching fot cheap rooms it is good enaough, not for long stayings, but good to take a look to the city.

Quite expensive for an Etap, but cheap compared to other hotels in Menton. Standard Etap layout / fittings, but shower bigger than some others which is good.

Location is in Menton, but actually closer to Italian Border than town centre, so if you plan to go to shops, prepare for a fairly long walk... There is a pretty good restaurant next door, so if all you are after is food, an OK source is close by.

Location has the not so good Orange version of etap's 'free wifi' which means it is not very good unless you pay (a lot) extra for it. But you should be able to browse and get emails for free - but there is a 200mbyte limit on upload/download traffic, and Skype calls (and other peer to peer services) are blocked unless you pay.

Room was clean, but noisy (main road outside my room, but also I could hear lots of what was going on in other rooms nearby :( ). I was on ground floor, and if you open blinds people can see right into room from street.

Location has good secure underground car park.

Room Tip: Rooms 13, 16 and 17 are on ground floor and face the main road passing the hotel. This makes them q...

We were housed in the Etap Menton as a part of a coach tour. The room was clean and reasonably appointed. The free WiFi worked well. As with other Etap hotels, the breakfast is a bit skimpy. There is only one elevator, which makes transport up and down challenging. We used the stairs since we were on the first floor, but were facing the rear of the hotel (thus no view). There is air conditioning, but no hair dryer. A shower but no bath tub. The hotel is close to some restaurants, but the best selections are a bit of a walk into Menton town. The hotel is close to a metro station which is about 20 minutes from Monaco and 40 minutes from Nice. We rented bicycles in Menton town (about a mile and a half from the hotel) and rode into Monaco on one day (about a 10k ride with some hills). The hotel is right across from the sea (mostly pebbly beaches, but some sand) and a kilometer from the Italian border (it felt more like Italy than France). If I were ever to stay in Menton again (not too likely), I would probably want to stay closer to the main part of the town.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher room facing the sea.

Stayed here for a few nights - room was on the fourth floor with a great view of the marina and Menton town. This isn't a five star hotel, but for us had everything we wanted: good shower, space and air con. Bed was a little hard, but other than that, can't complain. Moreover, the hotel is less than 5 minutes walk to Menton Garavan station, so you can get the train to Italy etc. easily. Would stay again.
