Owner description: Facing the sea, the exotic botanical garden has a subtropical microclimate unique in France. The temperature annual average 17°C. Experiment garden, greenhouse with rare plants, it houses beautiful collections of palm trees, bamboos, citrus-fruit, edible tropical plants, that is all together over 1400 species. Thanks to its path with hundred year old palm trees, its pond with lotuses, water hyacinths, giant water lilies from Amazonia and its atmosphere of dry forest and jungle, this garden evokes memories of trips to the Tropics.

We visit every year. No visit to Menton would be complete without going there and as a garden there is always something new. We are always surprised at how few visitors go there

For plant lovers this is a must but to us it seemed crowded (with plants) and somewhat confusing. We did not see the relevance of the large outside photographs of third world activities but again perhaps we had missed something!

We were lucky the gardens were situated near our apartment in Menton. Need to check with the opening times ideally prior to visit. Small admission fee payable of 6 euros possibly cheaper for groups. We visited the gardens on a very warm day.Small leaflet given in your own language so you can navigate your way around the gardens. I would say that for anyone with walking difficulties viewing the whole of the garden might be too much since the garden is divided into different levels for different species of plants. For the botanists and plant enthusiasts there are some very unusual and rare plants. Some lovely quiet areas where you can relax by the giant lily pond. One could easily spend half a day here it is that relaxing and interesting.

a botanical garden for the interested and to have a walk in the hot summer days. Unfortunally the garden has long closing hours during midday, so consult the timetable before you reach out.

Not much going on there, maybe the wrong season? Some areas were closed. I expected much more.
