we were fortunate enough to stay at the Napoleon for a week in June-loved it ! There was a last minute cancellation of a junior suite so we had a lovely room with a balcony.Breakfasts were served in a charming garden and the staff was most helpful in making reservations for us and recommending restaurants . Looking forward to returning as soon as possible!

Room Tip: try to reserve a junior suite! the view is amazing

Positioned on Carvan Bay this hotel commands an excellent position with a beautiful view of the old town and is over the road from the beach. It is a 10 minute walk to the old and new town which is full of excellent shopping and eating. Food has a real Italian bias. The hotel is walking distance to Italy. The hotel is immaculate with a top quality bathroom. The sea front rooms are large with a huge balcony including table and chairs. There is a fantastic supermarket across the road. We saved our money on the expensive hotel parking and parked the car across the road in the clean and safe council car park. Carvan train station is a 5 miute walk and is on the main line to places like Monte Carlo, Nice and Canne We used the train which is very safe, clean and cheap to visit these exciting places . This is a great location to explore the spectacular French Cote d'Azur and Italian coast by car. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Napoleon and would stay there again without hesitation.

Room Tip: If a seaview is not important to you I would choose a room off the main road. Front rooms could be...

We visited Menton for the first time in July 2012 and stayed at Napeleon for 3 nights.

If arriving by car we recommend to pre-book the hotel's private car park. It's a bit cramped but better than driving around trying to find a free spot on the street. We were greeted by the barman with a free Lemoncello drink (typical Menton) - a very nice gesture. One of the receptionists had limited English skills, but she was smiling and accomodating - so no big deal.

The sea view room with balcony was a great choice. Spacious room, effective A/C, free wi-fi, and beautiful view of the Med and the old town (10 minutes away). The well assorted breakfast in the lovely patio was a nice way to start off the day. All in all, a very nice experience.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room and ask for upper floor

The tripadvisor reviews made me choose this hotel for a short break on the Cote D'Azur and it was an excellent choice. I endorse all the positive comments in earlier reviews and would happily recommend this hotel to others.

The staff are exceptional in their friendliness and helpfulness and make your stay a real pleasure. During my stay Tiziana, Fabio and Jocelyne at reception were delightful but that is true of everyone who works at this hotel.

A few hundred metres from the hotel is Menton Garavan station and one good way of getting to the hotel from Nice airport is to take the Airport Express coach service ( number 99 ) to Nice station and then the train to Menton Garavan. Destination of the train service will probably be signposted as Vintimille but it stops at Menton Garavan. Just a few euros for each service.

An unusual treat for UK visitors is that your room has BBC and ITV channels as well as a wide range of international channels too. Lovely clean bright bedrooms and very attractive reception seating areas too , complimentary hot drinks and complimentary cold drinks in the mini bar in your room and a good bathroom with a shower that really works properly.

A lovely hotel in a lovely town.

First time in Menton and we picked this hotel with the help of trip advisor. The reviews gave a good impression and we weren't disappointed. We were allocated a room on the 5th floor with balcony (the balcony was worthwhile and got a lot of use during our stay). Whilst we did not use the hotels facilities much, choosing to eat most meals out, the staff were helpful and friendly. We did sit by the pool and though the area is small it is comfortable. The old town is an easy 10minutes walk along the promenade with lots to look at on the way. We loved the Old Town of Menton and will certainly be going back!

Room Tip: Choose a sea view as high up as possible as the road and "front" can be noisy

This privately family owned hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Situated accross the road from the beach and only a ten minute slow walk to the old town of Menton, the hotel has much to offer. The room we stayed in, facing the mountains was very clean and spacious, only compaint being the the wardrobe was a liitle too small. However, on the plus side was a TV with numerous channels including all the main UK freeview ones and surprise surprise for France, a kettle with tea, coffee and mugs. There is also free WIFI throughout the hotel. There is also a small hotel pool. Just across the road there is a lovely beach with private beach concessions (sunloungers and sun umbrellas) and numerous beach side restaurants (open in the season). The town of Menton is very much old France with sun shaded pedestrian walkways and a thriving market and numerous restaurants for all tastes and pockets, Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front have balcony and sea view, but for less money, the rooms at the rear are quite ad...

We've stayed at this hotel quite a few times and it has become increasingly popular all the while. Its greatest strengths are its charming staff - at the front desk, behind the bar and servicing the rooms. The south-facing rooms at the front of the hotel are seriously the best. Don't bother with the mountain side. Parking is a problem. An easy alternative to the tiny hotel car park, however, is the other side of the road opposite the hotel. The place has all the problems of Menton - impossible parking in town and nearly all the decent restaurants and everything else closed down on Wednesdays. As an officially-graded 4-star hotel, it's a little odd that it doesn't have a restaurant. But La Loca and Angelo's are the places to head towards in Menton for food.

Room Tip: It must be on the front of the hotel.
