I loved the ground floor of this hotel with its amazing view out on to the terrace and on to the sea.
The staff were helpful and friendly throughout the hotel and restaurants.
I was, however, very disappointed with the bedroom and bathroom. The wallpaper was completely mismatched and the curtain torn. The bathroom layout cramped to say the least.
Belles Rives now charge a daily rate for sunbeds, a mattress for same and beach towels which rather takes the edge off the main reason for visiting.
The dinner menu was not expansive but a short stroll into Juan Les Pins easily provided variety.
Previous visits to the area had seemed reasonable value for money, now it is expensive.

Good value for money with great location. The staff were outstanding and extremely friendly . Nothing was a problem. The staff member who impressed us was Luca the head concierge. We have traveled around the world staying in 5 star hotels and Luca would have to be by far the most resourceful and could not do enough for you concierge. He is well informed not only on the French Riviera but also the Italian Riviera which he gave me the low down taking up 2 a4 pages. If you love to explore villages and eat great food as well as the best places to visit he is the man to ask. The hotel has something for everyone. Couples and families. A great evening ambience on the waters edge is offered unlike other 5 star hotels in Antibes. More livelier and fun. Prices are fair considering the location. I also want to give a mention to the lovely Caudia on the front desk who was a great help to us . We would definitely stay at Belles Rives again.

Room Tip: We got a larger room with a view. Next time a room facing the street as they are much cooler and you...

The only hotel we have been to more than twice (personal account!) and happily go there again each summer.

The sea views from the bedrooms, the restaurants and jetty are spectacular. You just can't go wrong with the Michelin star awarded restaurant, the fantastic service, great views and if you feel sporty, your own water skiing team who are very warm and friendly, to take you out to sea from the hotel's own jetty.

This is a great place to go all summer round. We've been here at various times during the summer over several years, recently in June 2012.

There is no Pool or Gym but you won't mind... you get instead almost a private beach on the Med which is rare in this part of France and Scott Fitzgerald used this haunt to entertain his guests that his oppulent lifestyle was renowned for, and wrote "The Great Gatsby" here... what more do you want. This a hotel that has it all!

Come here for a long weekend fix and recharge your batteries.

What can I say... keep up the good work and thank's for yet another wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are the only way to go here.

We booked into this hotel for 2 nights but extended our stay to 4. The staff were brilliant, the rooms lovely however on our second nite we had moved rooms. After a day on the beach we went to our room to find the shower broken and the bath plug broken. Mr gilet came out and repaired the shower and the bath plug. It was completed at 6.55, we were meeting at seven friends so we had to leave without shower or bath. The staff had been so helpful we would have let this go even though this is not the standard of a 5star hotel. We stay in many around the world and have never had to report a fault. We arrived back to find the lock on our room broken. This is really not acceptable for a 5 star hotel. We checked out in the morning , again the reception and concierge could not have been more helpfully however the manager made no appearance. In my experience of 5 star hotels I have never had to report such faults, they are dealt with long before the guest arrives! This is a beautiful hotel with amazing staff who appear to be let down by the management.

We enjoyed a long weekend at the Hotel Belle Rives in April 2012. It was a joy to be in Juan Les Pins without the crowds and I would thoroughly recommend going off peak if at all possible.

We didn't have the same problems with noise on the terrace that some other reviewers have noted. Despite a function being held on two nights, all activities stopped well before midnight and it was great to hear classical music wafting up to the bedroom on such a warm evening.

The hotel has great character and style. The original lift is in place ( "old reliable") and you certainly savour the fact that you're not staying in an anonymous hotel chain.

We will certainly be back.

Room Tip: Spend the (considerable!) extra money and get a room with a Sea View. It is the raison d'être fo...

The Hotel Belles Rives certainly is in a beautiful location, right on the sea with gorgeous views and walking distance to the main area of Juan-les-Pins. The public areas are very stylish and the rooms are quite charming, if a bit small.
I do however, think that the hotel is surviving on a past reputation and does not have the quality of service and management which you would expect in a 5 star hotel.
Room service took an hour and a half, and only arrived after a second phone call. At breakfast the staff were paying more attention to ironing table linen than serving waiting guests and on numerous occasions I had to leave the table to walk across the restaurant to attract the attention of a member of staff to ask for coffee, butter, cutlery, etc. It was a similar situation in the bar and on the terrace where you had to actively go looking for staff for service. The hotel was certainly not particularly busy and there were plenty of staff around, they were just not very attentive to the guests.

Our stay was completely ruined when we returned to our room after an afternoon out to discover that my wife's diamond earrings had been stolen! The hotel will probably mention the disclaimer of taking no responsibility for anything unless it is in the safe but I think this is also taking no responsibility for the security of it’s guests or the integrity of it's staff.
The earrings were inside a jewellery box, inside the wardrobe of our locked room whilst we went out for the day with friends. The only people who were likely to have entered the room were the hotel staff, and the earrings were taken in our absence with nothing else taken or disturbed.
As with previous comments, we were extremely disappointed with the way that the situation was handled by the staff of the hotel. Nobody showed any concern or made the effort to come to the room to investigate. No effort was made to ask the police to attend the hotel or to question staff about the incident. We were offered no assistance by the hotel and had to get a taxi on our own to the police station and wait for 4 hours for an english speaking police officer.
We were so disappointed that we had no option but to leave a day early to look for alternative accommodation. When we walked out of the hotel with our luggage, a lady came after us who introduced herself as Marianne the owner. Marianne actually appeared sincere and when I asked her, actually came up to the room and listened to what had happened. However, she did not acknowledge any responsibility or offer any explanation. However, certain of her assumptions of how the room had been prepared and checked by experienced staff whilst we were out, were not consistent with dirty glasses left in the room, litter bins not being emptied and toiletries not being replenished. She seemed surprised at this so possibly does not know her staff as well as she thinks. Marianne promised that there would be an investigation and that she would e-mail us, but 10 days later we have heard nothing.

In hindsight, we realised that although on check in we were encouraged to leave our room key with the concierge when we were not in the room, room keys were often left on the concierge desk for long periods of time and not put away safely. One evening we went out for a walk for an hour and our key was still on the desk when we returned! Keys were handed out to you by reception staff or concierge without them so much as asking for your name, even if you had not met them previously. On 2 occasions we were given the key to the wrong room and had to give it back. On the whole, there is very little management of the security of the keys and therefore the rooms!
We stay in 5 star hotels on most trips and usually find that it is the management and staff that make the difference to your stay and the overall experience. In this case, they did for all the wrong reasons.

Dear Guest,

First of all we would like to thank you for your comments. Every client feedback, positive or negative, helps us continuously to improve our standards.

With regret we have noticed that you were not satisfied about your last stay at the hotel. Please be assured that every point has been discussed within our management team and corrective measures have already been taken.

Concerning your earrings, we would like to express our sincere understanding for the issue. We don’t have any prove that somebody of the hotel staff is responsible. To avoid any similar situations in the future, we encourage our guests to use the safe at disposal in each room. Marianne Estenne-Chauvin, the owner of the hotel, has indeed questioned the entire hotel staff and has contacted the police. We will get back to you on your personal email address.

Hoping we will have the honour to welcome you as one of our privileged guests, we remain at your entire disposal.

Warm regards,

The Management
