“Lovely quiet half term break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

Booked direct with campsite to get the type & location of accom we wanted. Eurocamp, Keycamp & NSS Riviera all recommended too by people we met. Only a dozen families round pool at any time. One day we had it to ourselves! Loads to do in the area (with your own transport). Perfect facilities for our kids (6&4) as smaller pools were heated and/or indoors. They loved the slide too. Didn't use shop, restaurant or activites that much, so can't comment. Would go back, but then again, it's a big world out there & I want to see all of it!

Lovely campsite in a quite location. Easy to get to local restaurants at pins de league and only 15mins to beach/restaurants at st Raphael and frejus. We own our own mobile home on this site but you can book through dream holidays. Great outdoor and indoor pools, tennis courts and lots of kids entertainment

This is a great place to stay but don't book with Holiday Green themselves as you'll get a better deal if you book with one of the tour operators who own their own chalets. The pool is good except children are allowed in and often dominate it. I wouldn't eat in the restaurant but there are lots of great restaurants in Frejus for eating out. Good place to take children - best to go out of season if prefer it quieter without too many kids.

Room Tip: All the chalets are good. The bigger and better the more you pay.

We stayed at the Holiday Green parc in the South of France near Fréjus on the Côte d'Azur last August. It accommodates campers (tents and caravans) and also has mobile homes (which remain in situ) and concrete bungalows. We rented one of the mobile homes (through Keycamps) and this was the first time we'd stayed in this type of accommodation, which was interesting. Three bedrooms doesn't mean three bedrooms. It means two bedrooms and provision for sleeping in the main living area.

The on-site facilities

We thought the on-site facilities were good. We made use of the shops which weren't too pricey. We didn't use the restaurants except to order take-away pizza one night and this was fine. We discovered a Lidl supermarket within a few minutes drive of the parc, but that was towards the end of our holiday when we had no need for further food shopping and the on-site supermarket had been sufficient for our needs.

The swimming facilities were good for adults and school age children. There's an indoor pool with a fun slide and the outdoor pool never felt over crowded even though we were there in mid-August. If we had toddlers with us we would have hesitated to put them in the paddling pool which, evidently, was being used as a toilet by its users. Holiday Green would definitely be advised to clean the paddling pool more frequently during August.

The entertainment at night wasn't really for us. We attended a couple of times but it was a bit of a nuisance mostly as it was noisy and went on too late.

The weather

The weather was hotter than usual with temperatures hitting 40 degrees a couple of days and in the high 30s the other days. We were told it wouldn't normaly be quite so hot which seemed true as we'd holidayed in the South of France a few years before in more comfortable temperatures.

We weren't properly prepared for the mosquitos which, given Parc Green's location in 15 hectares of pine forest, were plentiful.

The location

The location can't be faulted and Parc Green is a great base from which to investigate the environs. There's plenty to see and the area is truly beautiful. Driving is easy as the roads are well signed and if you don't want to drive, there are organised trips you can book on site. We'd recommend the trip to Monaco which is stunning.

Our only complaint (and it's a big one) is the lack of assistance you get from the information office at Parc Green. Information isn't volunteered. You have to really dig for it and if you don't ask the right questions, you could end up in trouble as we did. We asked for help with a visit to Aquasplash and Marineland and were assured that the tickets we purchased at the information desk would gain us entry to these two attractions. Unfortunately, the information was wrong and it ended up costing us double as we could have purchased a one day pass at a much cheaper rate. When we told Holiday Green about this, they were totally indifferent which was disappointing.

Conclusion

Despite the one drawback with wrong information, we had a fabulous holiday and would recommend it as something to try. If you don't know the area, it's best to research it and plan your trips before you go because the on-site office won't necessarily be of much help (even if you can speak French).

Would we go to Parc Green again? Hmmm, we probably wouldn't rule it out. It was a lovely holiday, but we'd try other locations before considering returning to Holiday Green, Fréjus. The mobile homes are small and although we quickly got used to it, we probably would prefer to try a different type of accommodation next time.

Room Tip: If you're renting a mobile home, double-check how many separate bedrooms you're getting. Usu...

We tried the restaurant the first night we arrived and were very underwhelmed. We unwisely went back on the last night and it was even worse. The food arrived late and cold and the staff were indifferent. The problem is there is very little choice of restaurants in the vicinity, unless you are willing to drive or take a bus into Frejus every evening. Everything onsite is an added extra, for instance wi-fi, the sun loungers, the tennis courts. The shop keepers refused to blow up my daughter's li lo as they said they would have to do it for eveyone. Fair enough I suppose, but not very hospitable at the same time. This campsite is ok but be warned it is quite a bit away from any big supermarkets. A car is a neccessity if you don't want to buy everything from the pricey onsite store. We had a nice enough time but wouldn't go back

Just got back and feel a bit disappointed. Very expensive 5 star site - not worth the money though. Our tent pitch was by the wall, next to busy road were traffic was very noisy 24/7 no chance for a good night sleep then. Everything there seems to be an "extra option" you need to pay for - where 5 stars hotels provided it FREE i.e. Wi Fi, loungers and parasols by the pool.
Camp site rule: traffic is strictly forbidden between 11:00pm and 7:00am.... never happened!!! Gates are open 24/7 so traffic noise through the night. Toilets could do with being cleaned more often .
Restaurant/bar - too expensive for a quality of food. Simple drink is around 5-6 Euros, food quality - average, nothing too exciting. Much more expensive than average restaurants in the town centre Frejus.
Only weather seems to deliver!!

We are just back from two weeks here. We stayed in mobile home "Olly" which was privately owned, and managed by NSS Riviera holidays. The home was about as good as you can get, double decking, air con and an extra fridge and freezer which was a real godsend. The management company were great, and very helpful and responsive. The key camp home opposite was more expensive and not as well equipped, so it pays to shop around on this site.

We noticed that some areas of the site were really cramped, but these seemed to be non-English areas.

The site itself was good, quite pretty, and some lovely views (except for the dog turds which adorned the base of almost every tree in the place). Unless you are a hardcore cyclist, don't bother bringing your bikes - the site is hilly and there are usually steps involved to get to the main central area. The pool was fine, and the usual "up at the crack of dawn to beat the Germans to the sunlounger" scenario is avoided by paying for them either by the day or week. I'd recommend daily, as there is loads of other stuff to do in the area.

We tried the restaurant/Takeaway once. The pizzas were OK, but the burgers were shocking. The bar charged what seemed to be a universally agreed price of 6 euros for a pint, and about 3 for a kids fizzy pop.

I don't think I will return, but it was a relaxing holiday, and a really nice mobile home.

Some top tips - beware driving to St Tropez. It will take you 2.5 hrs there and the same back. Best to get the boat or park about 15 miles away and cycle.
Go to the Verdun gorge - its amazing.
Bagnols up the road is a pretty little mountain town. Worth a visit or a meal.
For a meal, the best we had was at les micocoulliers in Frejus old town. Great food and reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Use NSS Riviera holidays
