“Delightful B&B”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

We recently stayed for a couple of nights at Le Mas Samarcande. We were delighted with the whole experience. The bedroom and bathroom were lovely and spotlessly clean!!!! They were decorated extremely well with lovely furniture, window coverings and beautiful tiles in the bath. Mirielle and Pierre, as mentioned in other reviews, were very nice and very helpful. We chose to stay in one evening and they added to our baguette with some cheese and tomatoes out of their garden. Being a gardener, I especially enjoyed their lovely garden and our room which overlooked the garden. Breakfast on the spacious porch with beautiful planters was quite plentiful and delicious. I can't imagine anyone being dissappointed by Le Mas Samarcande.

Le Mas Samarcande was our first lodging stop on an amazing August road trip from Nice to Carcassonne, Barcelona and back, and we wholeheartedly agree with the positive reviews of this serene and hospitable B&B. The Diots are gracious hosts, starting from the reservation process, when my inquiry emails were answered promptly and graciously. Our room (Samarcande) was cool and spacious, with room for an extra bed for our teen. Our bathroom featured both a capacious tub and an inviting tiled, step up shower. Bottled water and macaroons greeted us; a welcoming touch. The breakfast, patio dining and hilltop views were a high point. Mireille Diot bakes prepared croissant dough every morning, so the croissants are temptingly flaky outside and chewy-soft inside. Each morning, our resistance was lowered by a generous array of breads, pastries, fruit, yogurts, cheese, cured ham, fruity preserves, fresh OJ and excellent coffee. Our hosts even provided good leads on tried and true, reasonably priced restaurants like Bijou Plage, and suggestions on places to visit. All that and free, good wi-fi connection to boot! We had trouble finding Le Mas initially because Googlemaps had it in a very wrong location in the town below, but Mireille has since had that corrected, and French gps in our rental Citroen pegged it right. We want to return some day to this lovely area and Le Mas would be top of our list.

Room Tip: If traveling with a child, the basement-type Samarcande room is cool and spacious. It offers less o...

What a wonderful discovery. A beautiful property, secluded behind gates in the hills of Vallauris, Magnificent views of the hills and sea from the terrace where breakfast is a treat. The rooms are lovely, especially the ones on the garden. Mireille and her husband made reservations @ great restaurants in the area for the 4 nights we were there. They are terrific hosts and work very hard to make sure their guests have a memorable stay. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: 3 rooms on the garden are a plus. All the rooms are lovely, you can't go wrong.

We spent 5 days in Provence and another 5 in Cote D'Azur: Cannes, Nice, Saint Tropez, Eze, Saint Paul de Vence, Gourdon and Monaco. Samarcande proved to be a very good choice. Well located hotel (5 min from Cannes with car, 20 minute from Nice) with nice rooms, delicious breakfast (freshly squeezed orange juice every day) to be served on super terrace and a warm welcome by the owners. They are very helpful and ready to recommend not only good restaurants but places to visit...to accept their advices is highly recommended. :)
What I like the most is the two Macaron (special cake in France) which was placed in our room every day as a kind of nice gesture and surprise.
Do not hesitate to book this hotel! :)

We stayed at this B & B as part of a trip along the French Riviera and on to Provence. It is in a good location, about 10 minutes to Cannes and about 30-40 minutes to Grasse and St. Paul de Vence. The owners of this B and B are extremely helpful-we arrived prior to official check in and Mirielle gave us great plans on where we could go that day as it was already mid day. She took our bags, gave us a beach umbrella, towels, and got us going to a great day. The room was lovely, large, and had a large private bath with shower stall. The property is beautiful. It overlooks a gorgeous view, and is kept very clean. It is hard for me to find any negatives, but if I had to come up with one, the room had a tiny tiny tiny damp smell but this went away with the air conditioner which worked well. The patio where breakfast is served is also lovely, with beautiful views, and is handled with great attention. Pierre serves fresh squeezed orange juice (oranges are even present in large baskets ready to be squeezed), whatever coffee you want, Mirielle bakes fresh brioshe break, and makes her own fresh preserves. The breads are wonderful, and there is various individually wrapped cheeses, stewed fruit, fresh fruit salad, thick yogurts, and ham. The best part in addition to the beauty of the views and landscape are the hosts. They are a wealth of information, understand the value of a dollar (or euro) and try very hard and successully stear guests in the right direction. They made fabulous dinner reservations for us at the beach for dinner where we ate literally on the sand, and helped us tremendously with a drive all around Gorges de Loup as well as with plans to St. Tropez. Mirielle was very patient when I made reservations as I had to change the dates, and she responded very promptly. They really aim to please, are kind and friendly, and their home reflects the care they put in to everything. In the future we would definitely return, and would stay more days there...it is in a great location as long as you have a car and you can day-trip to many places. Our only problem was that we only stayed 3 days...could stay there a week, touring all around. We saw places like Gourdon that we never would have seen. Thank you Mirielle and Pierre! I have already recommended this B & B to family who will definitely include this in their itinerary.

In July 15th 2012 we stayed 5 nights in an amazing villa with beautiful trim garden and very elegant rooms , called "mas Samarcande" located in the town of vallauris above the golf Joan beach, 5 minutes from the French Riviera and 10 minutes from Cannes.
The amazing villa owned by very nice and elegant couple Mireile & Pierre Diot .
they welcomed us warmly and took care of us in every detail during our stay at the villa.
Breakfast was "served" by Pier on the balcony overlooking amazing scenery of the bay.
with kind and wink teacher's approach , making us handwritten daily meticulous included at least one village well known, one he loves, market place for shopping and interesting local event to enjoy.
At the end of the day he waited on the steps of the villa and checked what we have completed of the program :-)
He made reservation in restaurants under our budget and even a private beach (extra charge) at the first chairs with parasol and two sun beds water quo.
Beautiful rooms amazing place and we sure get back

We spent 5 days in the B&B of mrs and mr Diot who with their kindness and availability gave us the opportunity to enjoiy and have great time during our holiday
They were presents, but always with moderation, suggesting places to visit but avoiding crowded situation, we were there on July very high season!
La Mas Samarcande is a very elegant provencal house with a wonderful garden the service given is painstaking (daily cleaning with towels change) the continental breakfast, during summer time served on a wonderful terrace, includes home-made jams (bitter orange marmalade is very special)
We feel to suggest La Mas Samarcande to whom like to visit Cote d’Azur, the location is strategic and you can reach easily the most important places, in relax and confort
