Three of us had an excellent dinner at La Fourmigue. It is a comfortable family run restaurant at the edge of the port. The key seems to be excellent ingredients beautifully cooked. Between us we had steak (Scottish beef), duck and Dourade - all first rate. The frites were the real thing and the salad with the steak spot on. The sauce vierge with the fish was particularly good. The meal was rounded off with the homemade orange tart which was outstanding. Contrary to the experience of another recent reviewer we found the service to be excellent. However we did book a table in advance and ate at 7.30 pm before the restaurant was too busy. As with all restaurants here in August don't arrive too late and expect prompt service. Total bill for 3 including wine was Euros 120. Very good value.

I'm sorry to go against the majority of the reviews here but since when average food has become excellent?
I've been coming to the cote for more than 20 yrs and I'm sorry to say that quality and creativity has gone down.
All the restaurants serve the same dishes w the same tacky presentation.
La Fourmigue is the same as any other restaurant in the port.
We had a quick dinner with friture mixte and two tartare.
They were both average. Steak tartare didn't have much depth.
Didn't feel like it was done w much care.
Average dinner for €40 for 2 excluding wine.
Doesn't break the bank but doesn't really make me want to come back.

I chose La Fourmigue for a dinner with friends on the basis of the review of my partner. I have to say I completely deride the positive reviews here, as we had a horrible time.
Having a nice setting doesn't make it all.
A review in two words: disgraceful service. We tried for a while to get the attention of a member of staff...some just choosing to ignore us. After about 20 min waiting in front of the door to get seated we finally managed to get a table. The waitress was very brash, and was seemingly annoyed when we took time to order. We were ignored by the waiting staff, so ended up not having all our starters (one starter of two did not come at all…., but was included in the bill). The waiter I did manage to talk to after waiting for 60 min for our food simply shrugged and pointed at another waiter across the room. As a result, the pizza margherita for the child came. I was presented with a half pizza and asked for the other half which seemed to surprise the waiter immensely (I think they expected the child to eat less). As main dishes we had beef carpaccio, beef tartare and moules marinere: classic flavours that work, although there is a danger that classicism might equate to being boring. We were not impressed as the food failed to compensate for the wobbly service.
Then to add insult to injury, we asked for the bill, which was not delivered. After about 20 minutes we decided to pay at the counter.
We'll not bother returning, which is a shame - this used to be a reliable place for a good value meal few years ago.
Least, but not last: do not go there if you are not French as they do not welcome Italians and English.

Great , great restaurant in the Port of Golfe Juan. Family owners, Pascal, Laurence and Mat will welcome you as if you are invited to a family dinner.Great local traditional food as well as pizzas, fresh fish and seafood.
Nothing beats the excellent desserts , great wine list (they will get you whatever wine you want with pre notice) and very reasonable prices.
But the best about La Fourmigue is the great atmosphere and hospitality.
It has become one of our our favourite places in the Cote d'Azur.
