What a great little gem! We stayed in the suite (from the 16th century) in the heart of Eze village. The suite was clean, modern and very comfortable for the two of us. The lower level was the living area with a TV, small table for breakfast, and a comfortable sofa (which may have been a futon, I'm not sure). The upper level was the bedroom and bathroom with a big bed, and a luxurious, modern bathroom with both a shower and a tub that lights up! Up a small ladder/staircase through the roof of the room, you pop up to the small terrace with the most beautiful, amazing breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea, Eze Bord de Mer, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Nice to St. Tropez. My husband and I spend as much time as possible up there! The suite was especially nice because it was in the middle of Eze village with plenty of shops and art galleries to explore leisurely. Our favorite time of day was the evening when all the day tourists have left (it got pretty crowed during the day) and the whole village becomes quiet, calm and very romantic.
Fred and Sylviane were gracious hosts who were warm and welcoming! The french breakfast was filled with delicious bread, and preserves as well as fresh fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice and yogurt. It was a great way to start the day. Although we didn't stay at the main house, the brief tour Fred gave us upon our arrival showed a beautiful pool, with lots of chairs to lounge on and lots of space to relax.
Although there was nothing wrong with our stay, here are some quirks-- the bed is large, but is actually two narrow (twin?) beds pushed together. Not a problem, but they are on wheels, so my husband's side slid around a lot and he ended up about 6-8 inches lower in the morning than where he started in the night. Also, since the place is quite old, there are many places to hit your head if you are over 5'8". One more thing of note, payment is in cash or check, so just be aware credit cards are not accepted.
