“St Honorat island monastery - an oasis of peace for the day”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

Worth spending a full day. Believers will love listening to the monks chanting during one of the frequent services. Snacks are available and there is plenty of room and picnic benches to enjoy the view on Ste Marguerite and on Cannes. The views from the castle are beautiful. Forget the locally produced wine : it's either frightfully good or too expensive at more than 50 eur/bottle. There was no way to taste it so you had to have faith on the label.
Rooms are available for a two night minimum retreat, but you have to book well in advance.

“beautiful island with a beautiful secret beach!”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

The boat ride came free with our British Airways holiday which was a welcome and unexpected surprise! Very short boat ride - wish it was longer! Gorgeous views, scorching hot day! Visited the old prison where the man in the iron mask was held - it was interesting enough, I enjoyed reading the history of the prison on the plaques, the museum itself was a little bit dull - however that could have been because we were more interested in finding a beach to relax in, and find a beach we did, we asked some locals which beach would be the best seeing that Isle St Marguarite is so small, we were told that though they were all nice there is one which is quite hard to find and at least a 25 min walk away, we accepted the challenge! Don't remember the directions but it went something like 'turn left at the fallen tree, walk between the narrow walls and through the bushes until you smell eucalyptus' or something like that, but lo and behold, past the eucalyptus trees was the most beautifully crystal clear water - bear in mind the beach is not sand, it is stones and bits of tree bark and plants, but once you get in the water it is soft white sand underneath and well worth it....we spent all day there with a handful of people that obviously were in the know as well as a few gorgeous yachts which were parked up, and had an amazing day.

“nice day out”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Cost of the ferry was 12.50 euros and the entry to the fort was 6 euros , but you can spend the whole day here, the ride on the ferry across the bay was worth it, and the view from atop the fort was spectacular. Good little cafe on the island but bring your walking sandals as it is a little way from the fort to the pond and gardens.

“A complete change from the bustle of Juan les Pins!”
Reviewed September 21, 2013 via mobile

We took the boat from Juan les Pins. €17 each. The boat trip in itself was great. Lovely breeze & great to look back at J.L.P, Golfe Juan & Cannes from the ocean. We brought a packed lunch & plenty of water. Popped into the fort on Ile de Marg. Not much to see but probably worth a look. We strolled through the eucolytus forest & had a snack at a picnic table in the shade. Then made our way along the path until we found a cove with noone else. It was stunning. Sail boats bobbed out in the ocean. So peaceful. The coves are all pebbly and the way into the water is rocky & slippery. I went for a dip but it was tricky! Water shoes would have been perfect. We walked around the whole island. Great views from everywhere. Then we lay on the beach near where the ferry docks. This was much easier to enter the water from. Had a glorious swim. Then grabbed an icecream before we took the ferry back. Well worth a visit. Lovely walk & a great spot to relax, read a book and take in the views :-)
