The Mediatheque de Noailles in Cannes is a hidden gem that represents the 19th century architectural designs. Originally built and owned by the Rothchild family and then bought by Cannes Municipality after WWII to turn to a library. This amazing building and surrounding gardens deserve more attention, efforts and promotion among tourists. A lovely place to be in in a sunny day let a lone if you get invited to an elite event in it.

This villa built in 1881 for the Rothschild is now a library. It's has beautiful architecture inside and a great reading room in a the solarium. Best of all there is no charge to visit. It is not a far walk once you are at the Suquet. Good place for children as they have a large garden so you can picnic there.
You can take public transportation there

It is rather unique place with the end of the 19 th centurz palace turned into public labriary - while the rest palaces in the area are prive and closed to public this one shows what is the area meant to be in the end of the bell epoque!
The garden is great and well done with some interesting information and some histories.

if you have a spare hour in Cannes and do not mind walking to *beware of the closing hours of the mediatheque at 18.00) / make nice contrast to the todays buildings of the central cannes area. Recomended for the architecture and garden lovers for sure.

The mediatheque is situated in a very nice building with a parc in front of it. Not only can you go there with kids to borrow books, listen to music and stroll in the big garden - they also organize aperos on some evenings. On top of all that, during the film festival they arrange concerts every day, for free! All you need to do is to get places from the Cannes Mairie. I really appreciate coming here!
